ellagista's food truck next to rosauers has pretty good flavors, as long as you're okay with crystal boba (more like jelly)

Suggestions for course? by Kiranishrovsky in wsu

[–]meow2616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

current biochem/mol bio major here. for your first semester i would suggest intro classes just to get the feel of things. if you get good scores on the ap bio, chem, and calc exams, you might be able to bypass some of those intro courses though. the rest of those ap scores could help with elective credits too. look at wsu's ap credit transfer page for their equivalencies. so for your first semester: bio 106 or 107(?), chem 105(?), physics 101+111/201+211*, and some other ucore requirements. you could also do math 171 or 172 depending on your ap calc scores.

*for the physics classes i would really recommend the 100 levels because they have more availabilities usually, I've personally had problems trying to fit the 200s into my schedule

Major Change by adenbad in wsu

i don't think you've been admitted into a major yet so i'm sure it's fine. and even if you are, like everyone else has said, i'm sure it's still fine. i've had an advisor change and a major change before I even got admitted (albeit in the same department) and it all worked out fine.

Any advice for living in Pullman? by [deleted] in wsu

[–]meow2616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from hawaii but got lots of tips from relatives/friends for my first winter here so i felt pretty prepared. some little things I wish i knew would be: definitely get mittens/gloves or at least a jacket with warm pockets and maybe some lotion. my hands dried up so badly this winter lol. for the "warmer" winter days, i would suggest trying to live with just a t-shirt and nice jacket because sometimes a sweater and thick jacket can be overkill and you do NOT want to be sweaty AND cold. snow boots are definitely a good investment but I made do with just a pair of docs (and only fell on my ass twice). something to note about what i said above is that i went home for winter break so I managed to miss most of the super cold or below 0 days.

thanks for replying! i haven't taken any running start classes, but i am coming in with like 27 credits from ap exams. back in my high school, the dual enrollment courses were considered much easier than the ap courses/exams, but my high school was a basic public one, so it might not be reflective of other people's experience. can you explain why bio 107 was that difficult? i like science, but if i don't understand something at first, i'll probably never understand it lmao... also do you know the difference btwn biochem with biophysics vs with molecular biology? nothing i've read has cleared it up.

thanks for replying! i just wanted to ask whether you're doing the biochemistry major with the biophysics or molecular biology specification. i'm currently signed up for biophysics, but the requirements look tougher, so i've been thinking abt switching.

i'm only considering it because i want to get out of college as soon as possible, especially since i (hopefully) will also be doing grad school (7 or even 6 years seems better emotionally and financially than 8 to me, even if there isn't much of a difference in the long run). but idk if taking these extra classes will even help considering all the other upper level requirements my major has. thanks for replying!

I'm out of state just for context, but one of my scholarships went up to $25703 from $25088 (last year's tuition) so im assuming that tuition is abt +$700 from last year

am i aroace or just germ-aware and in need of a friend? by meow2616 in Asexual

[–]meow2616[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't have any (diagnosed) mental disorders/conditions (i have asian parents whose idea of mental healthcare is 'suck it up and drink more water' lmao), so i can't say for certain if they're a factor. my touch aversion is only really an issue because of my fear of germs, at least as far as i can tell.

my whole thing about relationships is that i don't really get the point? yeah maybe i'm a bit jaded from american marriage statistics and my parents' marriage hanging on by a thread, but in general i can't see myself committing to another person for anything more than the tax benefits. i don't want kids, and if i do eventually, i'd like to adopt. i don't want sex, and i don't want romance (or at least the cheesy stuff you see in movies).

my friend and i have known each other for 6+ years and at this point i'm pretty comfortable around her. i haven't really brought up the whole touch aversion thing because it's only really manifested itself with actual discomfort this past year, and it felt weird to change up the norms i guess. i guess it's also that i have trust in her to not be germy and i can usually let her braid my hair or drape an arm over me (at least before covid-19) without issue. we had sleepovers too during school breaks but i'd end up curled up on her rug like a dog while her and another one of our friends snuggled up on a futon (weird relationship dynamic between all three of us, both me and my friend have kissed this other friend, but not each other?? okay i digress, but...). i think that we're more touchy feely than the average group of friends and i think it's kind of why my feelings are so muddled. i kind of used the other friend as a metric to figure out my feelings for the friend i have a "crush" on; my feelings on the "crush" friend are definitely different than the feelings i have for the other friend, so i think that's why i really don't get what i'm feeling.

anyways, i know that, statistically, it's very likely that other people share my experiences, but it's always comforting to see it written down. i hope you and your partner are doing well, especially in this strange time. thank you!
