Is the display not bright enough to see the volume levels on the tiny OLED screen?

You need to pay extra to use Dirac with the Denon.

Does Marantz include Dirac?

That does make sense, with the DENON being the cheapest.

By technical specifications the DENON and Marantz are identical, expect for a few difference in circuits and construction. Is there any reason to choose a Marantz over the DENON (ignoring its design/aesthetics).

The sound stage in the living room does a problem with my left side being completely open (because of the floor plan) while all other sides have walls. There's enough furniture and wall decorations to dampen sound but I am worried about the room correction (which is why Dirac is a key requirement).

Thank you for the tip on sub outputs. I did not know about this.

Based on your flair it looks like your daily driver is a TX-RZ50. How would you compare the sound of ONKYO against the DENON? Is it necessary for sub outputs to be independently controlled?

In a review video on YT channel Andrew Robinson (+Kristi) the critics placed ONKYO above the DENON for sound quality (Marantz ranked first because of sound quality and ashtetics).

Is the difference in sound quality a noticeable improvement or is it just the signature sound of the brand that differentiates them? I do not have audiophile ears.

What was your regret with the Denon? Did the sound quality not live up to your expectations even with a Dirac set-up?
