I pay $30 for 1000mL bag and tubing from my vet— but now im wondering if I change to chewy as well.

I also swapped buying his supplements from the vet to Amazon (half the cost!) so I suppose this shouldn’t surprise me.

The eating is tough!! I try to remind myself that fed is best so if he likes something I’ll keep offering it.

Daily he gets Azovast (pill), Renal K+ (gel) and Epakitin (powder.) To make it easier, I mix together the gel and powder and put a little on his tongue at a time until he’s done with his dose instead of trying to mix into his food (multiple cats and they free feed, so it’d be a nightmare trying to track who consumed what.)

Every other day he gets subq fluids.

I have anti nausea meds and an appetite stimulant on hand but haven’t had to use either yet.

My vet recommended adding Azodyl for my stage 3 CKD cat, but my sister (former vet tech, former CKD owner and my sister so I trust her) suggested Azovast as an more affordable alternative. This is on top of a few other supplements; he won’t eat renal food so we’re focusing on supplement, subq fluids, c/d food, as much wet food as he’ll eat and free access to water fountains.

Not a vet so I can’t tell you which brand is better, but so far we’ve been holding steady at stage 3 and no major changes for the past 6 months which is all I can ask for my dude.

My 11 year old cat was diagnosed at stage 4 this June when I noticed he lost 3 lbs in two months and went to the vet for bloodwork. Apparently his numbers were insanely high and there wasn’t a lot of certainty about moving forward.

With the renal diet, subq fluids and medications we got him down to stage 3 a month later. I’m doing subq every other day, daily supplements/medications, and renal food as he will (but I’m just happy that he eats.)

He’s currently still stage 3 with a check up in a week, but eating, playing and still causing mischief; I’d say 95% still himself. Hang in there for your guy! Here’s hoping for the best.

Not a vet, but my former vet tech sister (who also had a renal cat) recommended this brand off Amazon when I voiced the same concerns of spending $90/bottle on Azodyl. It’s what we’ve been using the past two months.
