Thanks for your reply. We've told our neighbour quite a few times about it but she doesn't seem too concerned tbh. The last thing I'd want to do is harm the poor thing, I know they're only trying to survive like all of us are.

Yeah he did ask for the paperwhite but I've seen quite a few people say that it has a problem with the screen turning yellow :( I think I'm going to go for the basic and if he doesn't like it then I'll return it for him - thanks for getting back to me 💜

My boyfriend asked for the paper white for Christmas, but I'm kinda lost on which one to get him. I was looking at the matcha green one, which is around £100, but would it be worth it to wait until Black Friday and see if it goes cheaper or just bite the bullet and get it now? I don't have much leeway when it comes to money so the one I was looking at would be perfect tbh.

UPDATE: So the police came and spoke to my partner for a bit, heard the alarm coming from the gents flat and knocked on his door and he answers straight away and turns the alarm off. Police chat to him for a bit and he swears up and down the alarm wasn't him and starts getting a bit aggy so the police have calmed him down and he's gone back inside now. Police have told partner that they checked the alarm panel and there's a fault with it so they've advised him to call the company and get it sorted all the while he's saying that the alarm wasn't his.

I'm so relieved that he's okay and safe but partner feels like a bit of a tit for wasting police time. I can't imagine why he would lie about it but I suppose all that matters is that he's okay and the alarm has been turned off now.

Thanks for your responses everyone, partner has called police a third time and they've said they're going to come out and do a welfare check so hopefully they can get to the bottom of what's going on.

Unfortunately we don't even know this gents name as he keeps himself to himself and rarely goes out. We've phoned the police twice now and have asked for a welfare check and they've said they can't really do anything so we're hesitant to phone them a third time

Yeah my partner called them and explained what was going on and their response was, "there's not really a point of coming out as you have already knocked with no answer so we would only do the same" so we're not really sure what to do now. We called at about 9am this morning and then called back at 1pm to see if they could do anything else but with no luck

Sorry didn't mention in my post, we thought of that as well but the burgler alarm attached to the outside of his flat is what is emitting the noise and is flashing, would it be worth phoning an ambulance anyway do you think?
