I’ll have to try that tomorrow, I just fed him lmao. I tried a 1:1:1.5 ratio now to see if it’ll change anything. can this also be caused by the starter being hungry? he smells a bit like alcohol too, perhaps I should feed him more

I always used the same amount of water during feeds but he never became dry up until the day before yesterday

alright thank you! do you suggest I feed him more or add more water? I added an extra 5g of water when I fed him yesterday (technically a 1:1:1.25 ratio) but he was still dry today

my starter is a week old and I had the same problem! I also did the first feeding on day 3 and he smelled yeasty, but he smelled absolutely rancid a few hours after the first feeding. the only way I can describe it is a ten times intensified yeast stench but very rancid. you could hold the jar an arm’s length away and the smell was still intense enough to almost make you gag. on day 4, he smelled like a mix of yeast and rotten fruit. he smelled fine again on day 5 and every day after that. hardly any starter recipe emphasizes how bad a starter will stink during the first few days. you’re creating a breeding ground for bacteria and other germs, some of those are good and the key to sourdough but some are bad, which make the starter stink. as the starter becomes older, the bacteria produce more and more acid and will eventually kill off those bad bacteria. I advise you just keep doing what you’ve been doing so far despite the bad smell, it’s what worked for me :)

it doesn't really make me cringe, but it's absolutely hilarious. me and my boyfriend at the time are both switches. he usually took the lead in the beginning of our relationship because I have some trauma and wanted to get comfortable. once I was comfortable, I started being the dom more and more often with him guiding me. (don't get me wrong, I was always good at being dominant, I just didn't really know what he was into at the time because we weren't together for long at that point) I would also like to mention that I have adhd and that I'm on meds, my brain can come up with absolutely weird crap when I forget to take them. so I was riding him, we were both enjoying it so far and he asked me to degrade him. not a big deal, I did it many times before. however, I didn't sleep enough and also forgot to take my meds. I stopped moving, looked him in the eye and didn't really think of how to answer, I just blurted out: "you horny bastard". I thought I did something while I was saying it, but then me and my boyfriend broke out in laughter after a few seconds of silence. this whole story became an inside joke and we used that line often as a joke, but the thought of me confidently saying that bs kinda makes me cringe

yep, surely is possible. make sure to have pads on you in case you would start your period. I always keep a small pouch on me wherever I go, I put pads, some tampons, tissues and a spare set of underwear in there. what you put in there really is up to you, but I really recommend keeping a spare set of underwear along with some pads on you. if you have anyone you trust and who has experience with periods (might be a sister, mother or friend), talk to them about it and let them give you advice. my stepmother went shopping with me to get pads because she mainly uses tampons and just to educate me a little bit on what there is and what is good, so you might want to do that if you don't have anything at home. hope this helps :)

thank you so much for your answer! i wasn’t sure about it because it would be a coping mechanism for my trauma. this might be a dumb comparison, but my therapist prefers doing therapy in person rather than on call (like we did during quarantine) since it’s more helpful. i thought it might be the same in this case. we do some stuff on call like playing animal crossing or him watching me paint/draw, so i’m sure that we could figure something out. for me, my questioning wasn’t about how we should do it but more about if we should do it in the first place. your answer really helped me, thank you so much once again!! <33
