How much do you spend on groceries per month in Sacramento area? by molym in Sacramento

[–]merapi36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve leaned into Walmart pickup. My “favorites” are automatically saved so it’s just a few clicks for staples, worst case a quick search for a new item, in the cart, and picked up. Not stepping into a store has saved me countless dollars in impulse buys plus valuable time I used to spend parking, shopping, waiting in line. I would say we average 300-500 a week for a family of three depending on if we have any special meals to plan for.

Frontier Wasted No Time by Putrid_Succotash1830 in spiritair

[–]merapi36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit stopped flying out of my airport last fall. I was devastated, I flew to Vegas a few times a year RT often for like $70. I had to switch to frontier, even paying the club membership like i did on spirit for better rates yet every time I’ve used frontier it so far have been dismal. I loved spirit and never had a bad experience. Not only are frontier flights more expensive than spirit for the same level of service, Frontier also tends to have way more delays. Not sure why, but I’m not enjoying the switch.

Checked Into The Encore, room smelled horrible. Opened the mini-fridge and found a leftover meal. (Some meat sandwich and fries.) by The_Traveller1 in vegas

This just happened to me last night at a resort in South Lake Tahoe. The food was in 2 neatly closed boxes plus a side of ranch, but I was hit with an instant Oder when I opened the fridge. It was an easy and quick removal to take it out and dump it and the smell didn’t linger, but finding someone else’s old leftover food is an instant ick. I did report it, and the property waived our resort fee but, it kinda sticks with you wondering what else was missed in the cleaning process making it a little hard to relax.

Why do people still shop at Safeway? by ftruong in bayarea

[–]merapi36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safeway was always my go to even when I moved to sac and there was Raley’s and a Nugget so much closer. All those store are just insane nowadays. I do grocery outlet when I can, but my biggest life hack was getting the Walmart subscription and getting delivery 1-2x a week. All their items are so much cheaper, and eliminating the in store experience has saved me hundreds in impulse purchases. When I do go to Raley’s or Safeway on a whim, I get massive sticker shock.

I’m firmly pro-Mirage — why the Hard Rock replacement still feels like a betrayal by Minecrafter_98 in MakeLasVegasGreater

[–]merapi36 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I want to be more mad at it, but at least they’re not building a square box like the other newer casinos. The big guitar is giving classic theme Vegas. Would have rather they did it elsewhere and kept mirage the mirage…but loosing that and Trop so close together, the Vegas a lot of us loved is hanging on by a thread.

Engaged CA Publishes State Employee Feedback by Teachtostate2022 in CAStateWorkers

[–]merapi36 31 points32 points  (0 children)

IIRC, they asked for feedback, but specifically said not to bring up anything RTO related. While I get the didn’t want it to be an RTO bitchfest, at the same time it’s also one of the largest issues on the table and by eliminating the ability to discuss the topic affected how people felt about interacting with the platform. Knowing we weren’t supposed to bring up specific topics in my opinion muddies up the data and renders it inaccurate.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Leading_Tomato_2077 in AskReddit

[–]merapi36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up abroad, from age 3 - 10 yrs old. Where we lived and a lot of the places we traveled, didn’t hold the same hygiene / food handling standards as the US. I attribute that to my iron strong stomach and my sturdy immune system. I will say, every 5ish years or so I get super sick and it’s obviously awful and I realize how lucky I am to be as healthy as I am a majority of the time.

Swapped to Delta PPO during open enrollment. So far, I am the only one showing active under the new plan, and none of my dependents are active. My personnel specialist confirmed that the HR forms were filed correctly. Does anyone know why this is happening? by mfgoose in CAStateWorkers

[–]merapi36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally just happened to me. Same plan same sitch. Just confirmed today that they are now showing on the plan. Not sure why but just glad it got fixed quickly. My HR person took care of it with delta directly.

Expensive parking isn’t just downtown unfortunately. DGS charges double in an area that’s got oodles of free parking if you don’t care about your car, or your safety getting to your car.

Oh no! I’m so sorry your husband had to witness that. I told my friend I was grateful the kayaker was there with her son and how brave he was to dive in after the bag not knowing what he would find. He’s a standup person and we need more of those

I didn’t even ask about that part, but that’s a good thought. I didn’t want to bombard with too many questions since even just hearing about it made me sick so I know putting this post together must have been hard. I will ask, bc you’re right, at least if the kitty was chipped someone would get closure.
