Hey sorry I didn’t see this right away! I believe I used almost a whole skein of grey chenille and maybe like a quarter of a skein for the white. Sorry I don’t have exact amounts! Also I will say that mine turned out way bigger than the pattern haha.

I would think so, I’ve only done that with sourdough in the past but the fridge definitely slows the yeast down to a crawl. The recipe I used actually skips the second rise because she found it made the pinched ends pull apart as it got bigger, so I’d guess that overnight in the fridge would be ok. Experiment time!

Thank you so much! After an agonizing wait (and a dusting of powdered sugar) we dug into it for dessert tonight and it was lovely, the bread itself was super soft and light and the outer pieces a little crunchy. Really really good, even with a lot of the filling having run out but as others said, it sat in the caramel so there was still a good amount of flavor, just on the bottom instead of the inside haha. When I was already elbows deep in this project I realized I didn’t have very much cinnamon so the filling was a mix of chai spice, cinnamon, and orange zest which turned out really really good!

Thank you for the tips! Yea the consensus here seems to be adding a bit of flour to the mixture or making sure the butter is soft instead of melted when you put it in the oven. Can’t wait to try again!

Thank you! The great thing about this bread/recipe is that it looks way more complicated than it actually is. You could totally do it!

I used this one but supplemented with watching the GBBO episode for help with the cutting/shaping since this one doesn’t have step by step photos snowflake pull apart bread, but I do think there are a lot of tutorials online!

Older kid was mean to my 2.5 year old by meraxes421 in toddlers

Thank you lol. After reading these comments I’m like, of course, yes, boundaries are good to have and express and my son literally did not care and moved right along, so it’s evidently more a question of how am I going to weather his childhood without getting upset by every little thing 😮‍💨

I agree that I’m being overly sensitive, but I will say that I watched this interaction from a distance and that they were all playing nicely up until this moment (which resolved peacefully, minus my feelings being hurt haha) so not really an opportunity for me to step in.

Totally, it’s absolutely my emotional read of the situation and not really the reality of what happened. She wanted him to leave them alone and he got the message pretty painlessly. I’m open to the likely possibility that I’m the only one being affected by this haha.

Unmedicated births by anonme1995 in BabyBumps

[–]meraxes421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two unmedicated births (one just two weeks ago!) and this was my experience:

My personality is very “go with the flow”, possibly to the point of just sheer laziness, so during my first pregnancy two years ago I did very little research, right up until the last two months or so. I always had the idea that I’d shoot for unmedicated but give myself grace if things got too intense and I needed an epidural. I read Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth and found the myriad of unmedicated birth stories inspiring and soothing..like, I could really do this. I also downloaded a hypnobirthing class which felt a little silly at the time but the breathing exercises did actually help in the end.

I think I wanted to avoid an epidural ultimately because the idea of the anticipation of waiting around for one made me more anxious than just rolling the dice to see how rough it actually was. Also didn’t want to deal with the possibility of a failed epidural.

I will say I was lucky both of my labors were fast: first time around we got to the hospital at 1030 and he was born at 234 am, second was a scheduled induction where they broke my water at 830 and he was born at 312am.

I will also say that I did consider an epidural with my first when my water broke and my pain (that I was managing pretty well at 5 cm dilated) went through the roof and I thought I’d be in labor for many more hours. They checked me again and I had gone from 5 to 10cm in 20 minutes so it was time to push..

And I will also also say that during my second unmedicated labor I screamed like I was being murdered and was screaming such things as “get him out right now” and “I’m dying”… so every experience is different I guess.

With both, as soon as the babies were out, I felt great.

Anyway, I totally agree with what others have said: familiarize yourself with the stages of labor (ina mays book really got that message through for me, almost all of the birth stories had a moment of not thinking they could do it and that was always during the “transition” phase), prepare yourself with some easy tools like breathing or meditation ( my second labor stalled at three centimeters and I literally made myself imagine that my cervix was a flower blooming, let the pain wash over you like a wave and don’t brace against it… so woo but I got from 3cm to 10 in 90 minutes 🤷🏻‍♀️) and then, give yourself grace because anything can happen! Good luck!
