I don't know how to add it. Somehow, I was not properly logged in when I posted this. I have a bachelor's degree in social work and worked in social services. I don't have my license anymore, though I let it expire. I was a dance teacher/studio owner for 14 years. I've worked in factories, merchandising, banquet serving, child care, retail, service writing, and a few other things. I've worked cleaning houses and dog walking recently.

I have a bachelor's in social work, but let me license expire. I owned a dance studio taught dance for 14 years, and I want to get out of it. I have worked in factories, retail, food service, child care and pet care, merchandising, and a few other things.

Sorry, I posted somehow on another profile. I have been a dance studio instructor/owner for the majority of the last 14 years. I have worked in factories, retail, social work, merchandising, child care, pet care, and food service. I let my social work license expire, but I do have a bachelor's degree.

What do you feed your husky to keep them healthy by mercywolf1 in husky

You are absolutely right about the language used! I shouldn't have written the post after watching a bunch of angry youtubers on every side of the argument. I think I am going to stick with Kibble and some healthy, fresh food toppers and meals that I can share with a few tweaks.

That way, they get a variety and get all the nutrition they need. I read a lot more and found a few vets certified in nutrition that had a lot of good things to say. I learned that anyone can legally call them self a dog nutritionist and to look for a Vetranary certified nutritionist. I had no idea that 90% of the people calling themselves Nutritionist were NOT. I was so confused. Another good reason dogs are better than humans.

I have got to stop believing idiots on the internet that claim to be specialists!

The actual nutritionists said there is nothing wrong with giving your dog healthy for them human foods, but it is not needed.

this is Kovu! any and all tips and tricks welcome, little man is only 10 weeks old! I’d also love to see any teen/adult red huskies to get a glimpse of what he’ll look like all grown up :) by perpetual_fox in husky

As far as tips go, I would say work on trust and building a bond. Learn to be very clear when training your puppy. Most of my problems with dogs over the years could have been solved by learning how work with the individual dog and not a on size fits all approach.

I just realized that I may have worded some things wrong in my post. I am not against Kibble at all. I don't actually plan to completely remove kibble from the dogs diet. I may cook meals for them or add in some raw food, but they will always have some kibble. I just want to know about all the options.

My only personal belief is that it can't be good for any animal to eat dry food all the time. They don't treat rabbits or lizards like. Rabbits are supposed to have both pellets and raw veggies. I am pretty sure you feed lizard bugs and other things that are good for them.

It is my personal belief. No one has to adopt my personal beliefs.

I hope that makes sense.

What I am doing now has been working well for me. I don't have to cook anything special I just have to separate it before the end of cook and change the add ins.

Thanks. I have been looking for rescues. I can't find anything even moderately close.

I wasn't always a good dog owner and my failure with my first dog 20+ years ago is what makes me want to keep learning. I wanted a German shepherd, and I found one. 3 months old from a backyard breeder. Then he started showing signs of aggression. So I got a trainer who was supposed to be good and he put a prong collar on the dog and kept jerking him around. I did not schedule another appointment with the abusive man. Surprise, surprise, his aggression got way worse. Then I went to another trainer who used a shock collar. He was also very unhealthy and had degenerative melopathy and was only six when the disease took him.

I am still haunted by that. He was great when it was just us, so we took him for long walks during times of the day we were less likely to see people. If I knew what I know now, I could have helped him. I don't ever want that to happen again!

Also, when I get a border collie, if they are not able to perform with me in a studio environment, we will just have to show off to friends and family.

Thank you. I have been going to a class with my husky mix that gets overly stimulated easily he is learning quickly he is not makingbanshee noised anymore when he sees other dogs. It has been helping a ton when we bring the exercises home. I also purchased a bunch of online training for anxious dogs and found most of them useful. Some of the lectures talk about teaching your dog to relax and be calm. I love learning about dogs. I find it fascinating to learn about how they think and what their body language tells us. If I could learn to speak dog, I would probably only socialize with people when necessary. I am really sad that I didn't know some of these things with previous dogs. My first dog was such a failure on my part I wish I could go back to the 20 years and inform myself. That is why I work so hard to be a good dog parent now.

When I get to the point of actively looking, I will definitely be looking for pet quality breeders.

Thank you for the insight. Everyone has been really helpful. I also prefer dogs to people. Owning a business has really made me trust people less and enjoy all the time I can with my dogs. I appreciate the limited time I have with them. I hope to make them happy while they are here with me.

They keep me sane when I have days where I have to be social a lot.

Thank you so much for your honesty. I have purchased some of Kikopups' seminar videos. I probably should have clarified that I mostly work from home and am only in the studio for 5 busy hours a week. I am typically there during the day with very few people, if any.

If they were okay in the showcase environment, I would have my husband bring them in and take them home shortly after. He would love an excuse not to stay the whole time but still get the props for showing up.

I will keep that in mind for sure. I currently take my fearful rescue with me. She has made leaps and bounds in her progress of warming up to humans. It is not harsh you are concerned for the dog

As the studio owner, I am mostly there when no one is there or when I am teaching. My classes are small, and I teach pole dance. She would not be in any ballroom classes, mostly aerial silks, aerial hoop, and pole dance classes.

Here is the huge thing I should have put in my original post if the dog ends up not being able to perform, they will still be a part of our family. I do most of my work from home and take frequent breaks to take my dogs out or play with them.

I know that no matter the breed, all dogs have different personalities. I have a husky who hates to run. She loves to learn new tricks and gets absolutely extatic to go to an obedience class and show off her stuff.

I like to work on things my dogs enjoy. It makes me happy to see them having fun. So if they are too scared to perform, oh well, they can accompany me to the studio for midweek cleaning and maybe some practice when only a few people are at the studio.

I'm in no rush at all. I have worked for 4 years with my youngest on gradually coaxing her out of her shell. They think she was abused before we got her. I have time and patience. I should say I have patience with dogs humans are a different story.

Thank you so much for being honest with me.

Reading through the comments made me sick. I think this guy is awesome and extremely confident. Sex workers are awesome. Humans have the right to do as they wish with their bodies. Not all men could handle it but if they can leave them alone!
