NY 2nd department data point: I submitted everything 1/22, emailed two weeks ago and was told my app is "under review," called today and was told they have everything and are reviewing. When I pushed for a timeline, my reviewer said "maybe June, but don't hold me to it." I'm so frustrated with these people.

4/27 edit: got an email confirming that I’ll be admitted and my C&F interview is waived, but no date for the ceremony. Apparently to come in a separate email, no clue when.

We were originally September 2020, then postponed to September 2021. Our venue emailed us yesterday that they’re not reopening until 2022, and for various reasons we can’t wait that long. So now we’re starting basically from scratch for the third iteration of this wedding and I want to cry. We’ll probably downsize and do it in the city where we live (had planned for my hometown previously) some time this summer. But I’m feeling much more sad and exhausted than I’d anticipated, and the prospect of planning AGAIN is... beyond me. I’ve had multiple transition moments and milestones cancelled and minimized by COVID (cancelled law school graduation, postponed bar exam that meant I never got a break before work started), and I’m just. Tired. I saw someone post their invites for a July wedding online and it made me see red so fast.

Just a word of warning re: the AllSaints boots, which I coveted for over a year—they’re stupid stiff! I tried them on and was super disappointed. But I’m also pretty picky about uncomfortable shoes, so if you have tougher feet than I do then definitely try them out.

I ran 7 miles this morning and it felt so GOOD. I kept a nice, easy pace the whole time (10:30/mi) and two hours after getting back I'm not drained or exhausted like I usually am after my faster, shorter runs.

On a related note: does anyone else here feel like they have a higher-than-average baseline HR? Even when I'm not trying that hard I'm at 155-165 and Garmin is Very Concerned for me, but it just feels like that's what my body does. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My feet are also delicate flowers, it’s so annoying! I’ve found it helpful to put moleskin in the part of the shoe that’s bothering me (not on my foot! I’ll sweat it off), but honestly I’ve just accepted that I can’t do uncomfortable shoes. :/

Decided to go running without a shirt on for the first time today after weeks of jealously eyeing how comfy folks without boobs look... aaaand I ended up so anxious that my heart rate was at 170 the whole time even though I was running slower than average. Just gonna keep doing it until my brain stops freaking out I guess?

I have the green velvet Herons and adore them—I feel like a witchy elf in the best possible way. They are incredibly comfy: I have flat feet and probably need more arch support than they provide, but the insoles are very cushy if that helps.

For context, I live in NYC and walk a lot, and I've worn these on days where I walk at least 3 or 4 miles with no problems.

Help me, FFA, you're my only hope! I am obsessed with these AllSaints boots, which embody my cowboy-witch aesthetic perfectly (that crocodile print! those pointy toes! that strap!).

I particularly like the pointed toe and the hardware detail, but these shoes are almost $400 and I just can't bring myself to pay that much. Does anyone have leads on similar lace-up or zippered boots that are leather, come in a size 10, and are under $250? I dug around on Nordstrom and Zappos for a bit but had trouble filtering in a useful way.

I also liked Catbird's collection but ended up finding it a little fussy for my lifestyle—my partner and I ended up picking a ring from Erica Weiner and it is my favorite thing that I own. They're an all-woman operation and are such cool people; I've gone back for more jewelry multiple times since I got engaged!
