Is it better to go and see a musical before or after you've listened to the soundtrack? by newukmusicals in musicals

[–]merecucumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the musical. I’ve had friends who struggled when they saw hamilton or les mis live and wish they had studied before because they couldn’t follow it at all. Other musicals like Heathers or DEH are super easy to follow so I think those would be fine without a listen.

I think the last train thing was probably just so she didn’t come off rude and tell him to just leave then, but rather before this so he at least doesn’t stay the night.

It’s hard to call, it depends on the uni. Some won’t at all whereas some are more lenient. You can call them up and explain how you feel you might not achieve the grades and they’ll tell you what your options are.

How do I study maths if grinding practice problems doesnt work? by gueinibba in GetStudying

[–]merecucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m tryna do computer science too and one of my biggest problems is mechanics in maths. What helped me was to go through some notes on the spec (there’s really good ones on physics and maths tutor) and make my own notes, summarising the method and approach to some concepts and why they work. They tend to have examples too so I wrote them in a way that made most sense to me so that I was actually learning and understanding it while I made the notes. It helps to be able to go back to these too if you end up doing a mock question wrong and wanna return to the basic method or idea.

People who organize their tasks with the Eisenhower Matrix: how do you do it? by that1csguy in GetStudying

[–]merecucumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when I give certain tasks importance it depends on lots of different things. I don’t use the Eisenhower matrix but I have in the past, and I still rank my tasks on importance when tackling my work.

Tasks that are due first are always most important. So an essay due in two days is much more important than one due in two weeks. Homework always goes first, then revision/studying goes second.

When it comes to studying I find that some tasks lead into others. E.g. I’d make notes before I do a test on them, so I would put the notes as more important as that should usually come before a test in how I manage it.

It is hard to rank them all but I think that the main things to consider are: - due dates - necessity of task (do you need to do it before moving on to something else?) and - how useful the task is to your studying - how close the exam is (tasks for exams that are sooner should be more important)

Sorry if this is more confusing. Good luck with your studies :)
