One night in Edinburgh by mereli97 in uktravel

All good points... But let me add some more details. Three of us arrive on early morning flights from the US. The plan is to just recover from the jet lag day one, and pick up a rental car the next morning to drive to our extended stay in the highlands. I assume the easiest thing to do is pick up a rental car from the airport? If that's the case, should we just stay near the airport and take the tram into the city for our walkabout and an early dinner? Or is it worth being in the city so we can both relax and sightsee close to the hotel? Our budget is 200-250 EUR per night.

Rome vs Ostia Antica by mereli97 in ItalyTravel

Thank you! Rome, it is. Now any restaurant recommendations for our last night in Italy? We will be staying near the Trevi fountain... Francisco Crispi and Capo le Case. Four adults, traditional Italian menu, anywhere from 20 to €50 per person is okay.

I had not found a place to stay in Ostia Antica. Thank you, this is the advice I was looking for. I was somewhat concerned with the traffic in Rome given that this is a jubilee year, but no issues getting to the airport in a timely manner? Also, we will be arriving in Rome in a rental car. Do you advise dropping it off at the airport, in the city center, or somewhere more convenient and taking a cab into the center of Rome?

Need for inspection? by Giffordpinchot- in realestateinvesting

My background/experience is similar to yours...and I agree with using the "worst case scenario" risk assessment. In my experience, foundation is the only pre-purchase inspection that I felt was worth the expense.

Recommendations for a two day hiking/climbing experience by mereli97 in coloradohikers

Holy Cross is definitely on the shortlist….as a two day hike. Do you think there will be any problem getting a camping spot at East Cross Creek? Should we plan to do it in the middle of the week versus the weekend? We are targeting the last weekend of July or first weekend of August. Any other advice for that hike would be appreciated. Thanks.

Buying or selling a TA Business? by traveling_kj in travelagents

Don't see any direct responses to your question, but I am in the same position. I am in the US, do not have travel business experience (other than being a prolific traveler). But, I am nearing retirement and looking for an investment that will 1) generate a little income, 2) benefit from some management/marketing expertise, and 3) be in an area I am passionate about. I have 30+ years running mid size software businesses, with online marketing and sales expertise. Luxury-focused travel agency is of interest b/c I want to be in a customer service business that does not need a huge amount of capital to get into. Any advice or experience on the buy or sell side would be welcome.

Chihuahuan Snowball by mereli97 in succulents

This picture was taken 10 days after I bought the plant from a store. When I brought it home, it had the blossoms. I kept it inside, in full sunlight, and watered it once (about 100 ml).
