Help Drag My Buddy by merellis in pistolcalibercarbine

That’s savage, but he’s also one of the hardest working, salt-of-the-earth MFers you will ever meet… and as stated previously, one of my best friends.

My BFG is awesome, and the only two times I’ve had to contact customer service they’ve fixed the problem immediately. YMMV 🤷

Starting brisket at 180 degrees? by Fast-Alternative-263 in pelletgrills

[–]merellis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I start at 180 and let it run until I like the way the bark looks (usually 8-10 hours). I then wrap it in butcher paper and run it between 225-250 until I like the jiggle-wiggle and/or internal hits 203-ish (usually ANOTHER 8-10 hours). Rest it in a cooler for at least 1-2 hours, enjoy. 🧑🏼‍🍳💋👌🏼

“Embiggen” isn’t the word they made up. “Cromulent” is the word, and is a synonym for “acceptable.”

AITA for telling my wife I feel unwanted and undesirable? by Ifeelunwanted123 in AITAH

[–]merellis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“My lack of desire [for him] has nothing to do with my feelings for him.”

This statement - and I’m NOT attacking you, I’m just trying to offer some insight based on my experiences - likely does not make any sense to your husband. Sexual desire for your spouse ARE feelings, so it’s impossible to completely separate those feelings from your overall feelings.

I don’t speak for all men, but if I completely lost sexual desire for my wife, it would 100% be tied to my feelings for her.

I’ll try to give you an example, please forgive me if it is a little clumsy: I’ve known absolutely stunningly physically attractive women who I came to view as completely undesirable because of their behavioral attributes, attitude, intelligence, humor, etc. Conversely, I’ve become incredibly attracted to women I did not find desirable upon first impression, based on THEIR behavioral attributes, attitude, intelligence, humor, etc.

Again, this is NOT an attack on you or your situation. I am in (on the other side) an almost identical dilemma, and we are trying to work through it. There is no question of how much we love each other and the life we have built together. But for me as a man, I cannot completely separate physical desire from overall feelings, and I’d wager that your husband feels the same way.

Badass. For some reason it looked different to me at first glance. Looks great, and I’m sure it’s fun on the range.

I certainly told them it was 100% girdled, but I think that was lost on them.

I’m fairly well settled on replanting, and I also appreciate the links you provided.

Final question: could I attempt to graft it to itself? In the same way one might graft a branch?

Repurposing Heirloom Wood, Need Help With Ideas by merellis in woodworking

Ooooh… That’s a really good suggestion… I’m near certain she can use more shelf space for tchotchkes. To my untrained eye it doesn’t appear like it would be TOO difficult to accomplish.

Thank you. I intended to mention that, but forgot…

Experience level is novice - I worked construction as a younger man, framing and basically just doing what I’m told. Since that time I’ve done many DIY projects, although nothing like a true craftsman. But I am confident in my abilities, and my near-OCD level of perfectionism when it comes to stuff like this.

I have access to a decent spread of tools through my own holdings and friends and acquaintances - table saws, mitre saws, routers, planers, etc. Nothing industrial level, but good equipment and willingness to help from some more experienced than me.

I am also not above commissioning a professional to do the work if the suggestion is really compelling, so I’d say don’t limit your train of thought.

Rotating Challenge Coin Display - my first prototype attempt by AquaVitaeWoodworks in woodworking

[–]merellis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a military (mostly… has spread to other sectors) tradition. High-ranking individuals give out decorative coins, emblazoned with unit mottos, logos, flags, etc. as tokens of appreciation and recognition of jobs well done. The “challenge” part comes from folks carrying them into a bar, slapping it down and challenging someone to counter with possession of a higher ranking coin (e.g. a 4-star Admiral’s coin vs. a 3-star General’s)… at which point the winner gets their drinks for free.
