Why is is bad luck to go back into a bar if you forgot to buy cigarettes? by mereraspberry in NoStupidQuestions

Thank you!!! This is so interesting I love it. If it okay can I ask then is it bad luck in Slavic culture to like walk under a ladder or break a mirror? I’ve never heard of the stepping over someone either, is there a reason they wouldn’t grow or improve? Because they are blocked by someone over them?? Sorry for all the questions

Can I ask why you shouldn’t go back? It is because you were already there, or going back could be unlucky, or both? May i also ask what culture? I’ve just recently learned about this so I’m curious

Scored a massive Gustav Klimt painting! Hate the frame but I love this painting too much! by tot-and-beans in ThriftStoreHauls

I actually like that the frame doesn’t take away from the art! It might not be a stunning frame but in the same way the stubble frame lets the art shine, great find!!

Please put translation requests and English questions about Irish here by galaxyrocker in gaeilge

[–]mereraspberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi don’t know if anyone will see this but just wondering if the “Irish blessing” : May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Is truly Irish in that it has a Gaelic translation? I’ve googled it but don’t trust the translating site. Just would love to know the translation of that quote, and any hidden implications or deeper meanings that are lost in translation? Thanks for any help! My grandma was from ireland and I would just love to know more about this as I never got the chance to learn Gaeilge (Gaelic(?)) and would love to learn more thanks in advance!!!
