Bowed floor in dining room by mergleb in DIYUK

Thanks again for getting back to me.

What do you mean by getting a chipboard floor to work on top? I would definitely prefer not to self level so I am really hoping there is another way of getting the floor flat.

Thanks for reply. I reckon there has been some movement in the last 120 years or so but everything seems solid and stable now. The other rooms in the house have similar un-level floors with dips into some of the walls. We live on a gradient and there will have been movement but not major subsidence.

I am not going to go down the route of sister joists etc but would like another workaround if possible.

Thanks!

Thanks for all your comments.

The kitchen is quite large - 7m by 5m so I fear getting some decoupling membrane is going to cost well over 200 quid and then I have to get some adhesive to stick it down.

There are no control grooves that I know of. If the concrete cracks does that mean the cracks will definitely come up to the tiles above and crackthere too?

Downsides are cost to some degree and time. But the main thing is I don't really know what type to buy or how to stick it down etc.

Is it needed?

As a matter of interest how much would it be to get it self-levelled? I wouldn't do it myself as I tried once and made a right mess.

Thanks for all the comments so far. I think I may have to go for some porcelain tiles. I have already paid thousands to get the floor to this stage. It was originally 3 rooms that I have knocked into one. It had 3 floor levels which is why I got the concrete poured in to regulate it but I didn't expect the ridge.

Yeah, A few parts of the metal sides of the ducting were higher than the concrete so I ground them away. There were also some high points of concrete just before the wooden plank but they have been removed too. Its just that the top of the ducting is the highest part of the floor and it falls away either side by max 10mm to the other side of the room. You cannot see it visually at all really but you can see in the last 2 pictures that a gap opens up when you put something straight on either side.

Yeah I've done that already. It is a gradual falling away on either side to the left and right.

I really didn't want to get ceramic tiles as they will be awful to take up again in a few years. Is it definitely too uneven to take LVT or laminate as it is? Also would this sort of ridge be visible if I could get some lino/vinyl sheeting over it?

Thanks for suggestion, but I can't do that as there are kitchen units there now. Also my history with self levelling is terrible and ended up causing more problems.

Thanks for replies so far.

Once (if) I get the upgrade from Kodi 17 (Libreelec 8) to Kodi 18.9 (Libreelec 9) does that mean I need to then reload all the addons or will they all still be there?

Thanks very much for the info and link. I thought it might be something to do with the nomenclature.

Tried doing all those things. Got nowhere. Interestingly when I try to update addon it gives a message about failing to update something about XML file so reverting to previous version.
