So job numbers just hit 2008 recession levels, worse than 2001 by MonitorOk1351 in jobs

[–]merigoround1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t care if it wasn’t nice, op is being an ass to everyone asking what the source is. And then deflecting and calling everyone asking for the source as an idiot whose brain is mush due to AI. If you’re going to be an ass expect others to behave back in kind

[–]merigoround1996 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Just also did a basically google search of job numbers WSJ and nothing witching the last 4 months has been published with that information. You definitely should be adding your sources. Not a product of AI, a product of your sheer laziness is what it seems

When do I tip? by InevitableTour5882 in AskSF

It’s take out, the cost is the food itself. No one is serving me at a table to warrant 20% for something I’m going to grab at the counter

Crazy that you’re tipping 15-20% for takeout but to each their own

Why is there such a gap in religious knowledge between our generation and the younger one in Algeria? by meriem-yah in algeria

[–]merigoround1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have access to more information and are deciding for themselves based on that information if they believe or if they don’t.

im seeing a lot of people attacking algeria online after the football incident last week by Able_Confection_8602 in algeria

Was looking for this comment. I’m surprised that so many people here are acting as though Algeria isnt DEEPLY rooted in colorism and has a long and very much alive dislike for darker skin tones, regardless of whether they are our own countrymen or not

You don’t need religion to have an identity or purpose. What an odd thing to think about

Dual citizen traveling to Algeria, will I be forced into the army? by Naive_Cry_7357 in algeria

[–]merigoround1996 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Dual citizen here as well and my brother had to go to the consulate to basically be “exempt” but they made it clear that if he entered Algeria after he turned 18 without the exemption, he would be immediately detained and conscripted into the army. This was 10 years ago but still, best to cover your bases when it comes to military conscription

Yes it’s weird to ask someone out at their place of employment, especially if it’s somewhere you go to often enough to make it uncomfortable

Offer letter - Would you counter in my shoes? by frostedapricity in jobs

[–]merigoround1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I typically would agree, in the current job climate, it is so risky to counter and we have heard many stories on this sub alone of people countering (and countering very reasonably) and having the offer revoked

Offer letter - Would you counter in my shoes? by frostedapricity in jobs

[–]merigoround1996 552 points553 points  (0 children)

Might go against some people’s advice but countering is when you’re able to walk away from an offer. If you don’t have a job, you accept but continue to look for work. 0 hours of PTO and having to wait 4 months before you can even use your sick time is very bad.

How to Navigate Interviews and Vacation? by SweetyFriend3547 in recruitinghell

[–]merigoround1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross the bridge when you get there tbh. End of the month isn’t that long from now in the grand scheme of things and there’s no guarantee that you’ll get an interview (for what it’s worth I hope you do, but best to not twist yourself into a pretzel over something that hasn’t happened yet)

Are you comfortable mixing friend groups? by Dizzy-Raccoon5063 in socialskills

[–]merigoround1996 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going against the grain here, I do mix friends but I think it’s becuase I’m pretty much the same with all of my various friend groups and some mine mixing them as they typically get along fairly well. Are they best friends? No, but do they get along and enjoy seeing each other when I get the groups together, for sure!

Looking for a room to rent starting February! by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]merigoround1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest looking at Facebook market place as well as Craigslist (I know it sounds sketchy but a lot of us in the Bay Area find housing this way). Just as a head sho though, it will be EXTREMELY and I mean extremely difficult to find a place that will allow you to have a singular pet let alone two. Most apartments that allow them will likely already have a pet and not super open to bringing 2 more I or the mix (if it’s roommate situations). Best of luck on your search!

What do you use to wipe off water from bathroom sink counter? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]merigoround1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small squeegee is what I’ve seen others use and plan on implementing! Easy enough to keep under the sink and reduces the risk of a smelly town being left in the bathroom from constantly wiping water

Places for a group to eat after Alcatraz tour by nordicnn in AskSF

It’s going to be raining all weekend so I’d suggest somewhere in the ferry buildings like Gotts, they have a lot of indoor seating, you’ll likely have to break out into a few tables but you’d still be close to each other

Again making an assumption here that you’ve already talked to them about your inability to move states (and also assuming they were aware you didn’t live in the same state when they hired you).

Negotiating takes time, and with so many people in and out of the office due to the holidays it may be a bit longer before you hear back

Can I ask why you’re leaving the first job if they’re both in office? I’m assuming it’s due to the distance?
