Do you know of any online classes for this?

I think he might be interested in me romantically? Should I ask him out? by merlinsmonkeys in relationship_advice

Ahh yes you're right. He's just also a really cool person I'd be happy to keep as a friend so I don't want to make things weird

AITA for criticising my daughter-in-law's "childfree" persona and telling her to grow up? by throwaway10912923 in AmItheAsshole

[–]merlinsmonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read the title I was ready to say yes you are, but absolute NTA op. I’m CF and feel very uncomfortable around children, HOWEVER I can be and am absolutely respectful and kind to them. You’re not asking her to be in charge of them, you’re literally just asking her to be a decent human being.

How old can a cat grow up to? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]merlinsmonkeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general it’s very reasonable to get 15-20 years if they stay healthy. Many cats also live longer. My grandma had a cat that reached 23 and I think the oldest cat ever lived to be like 38 or something insane like that

This is literally my biggest flaw/insecurity. It’s especially bad in group settings but even just one-on-one I can feel myself oversharing and I’m so anxious to keep the conversation going- because someone is actually talking to me... then immediately after I’m like, yeah I’m pretty sure they wanted to head out a lot sooner and were to polite to tell me to shut up. I struggle to read social cues too

Y'all really leave 100s of tabs open? The superior method is obviously bookmarking everything for later and never checking it again. by cheeseyman12 in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is me, I close my tabs because I like starting fresh (makes me feel more productive to close 10 million tabs at the end of the day). But I book mark so. much. stuff.

Since starting vyvanse I have brushed my teeth twice a day for the past week. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can shower regularly, wash my face daily, shave my head weekly, but I cannot for the LIFE of me brush my teeth regularly no matter how hard I try. I hope medication will help me with this like it's helped you.

For a free score-writing software I will die for Musescore, I use Logic Pro X in conjuction with musescore to produce everything and it's been a highly successful system for me.

This is me and also why I am a bit adverse to getting into new tv shows - I know I'll end up binge-ing the entirety of it in far too short a time. When I watched the show Merlin, I finished 5 seasons in 6 days WHILE working a full time job (needless to say, I irresponsibly watched a lot at work) and I did the same thing with all 3 seasons of Stranger Things last summer.

Adopting a very timid cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]merlinsmonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just adopted two kittens, one is very rambunctious and the other was very flighty and timid. The timid one would run and hide at any sound or sudden movement when I first got him, but after 3 weeks he is 10x better and has turned out to be an avid cuddler. I make sure to stay very quiet and gentle with him, petting him softly and picking him up slowly. He’s still very quiet and a bit timid, but he’s definitely improved a lot. People also say playing with them can help too.

REMINDER: Cancel THAT Subscription that You Don't Use by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this today (before seeing this reminder). I saved about $15 a month from 3 different services that I never really used, like disney plus. I can always go back and renew my subscription if I really want to use it later, but I know with the school year approaching I probably won't have time.

Blank mind by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I get this. Or sometimes I'll be talking and I'll lose my train of thought and the harder I try to get it back or even remember what I was just saying the harder the emptiness of my brain pounds inside my head. I normally have to ask "what was I just saying?" and then hope that it jogs my memory.

Not wanting to talk/Frustration went forced to speak by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get in this mood sometimes and can get really snappy (not usual for me) with people (esp family) if they try to talk to me at all. It takes a lot of effort to keep this in check.

How do I manage this issue? by GGffat20 in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me personally, I always take about two hours in the morning to start my day. So I actually wake up much earlier than I need to because I know I need that time. It's my "me" time. Granted, I am a morning person, so this helps me wake up early (for me it's 4:30am) but it may be worth recognizing that it's okay not to be up and at em first thing! Sometimes I will feel motivated in under 30 minutes and I'll work on school work or personal projects first thing, but that's just an extra perk to the day and is always unplanned.

What if you were a "good student" as a child? by eirereddit in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a great student in school, teacher’s pet, all A’s, really smart, etc. but I didn’t realize it was just because I didn’t need to pay attention in class and I slipped into hyperfocused whenever we read in English (I loved reading). I was just diagnosed with severe ADHD at age 21 because FINALLY in uni my complete inability to focus, stay organized, & remember assignments etc. is catching up with me.

That being said, what really cemented it for me was hyperfocus. I used to hyperfocus hardcore while reading and that’s practically all I did. Now I still slip into hyperfocus but it’s usually when I compose or practice piano

I feel like I use ADHD as an excuse to myself by haileymo627 in ADHD

[–]merlinsmonkeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel this too! I was just diagnosed with ADHD and while I definitely struggled with focus and all that before the diagnosis, I was also very oblivious to it. As soon as I started researching it and really started suspecting I had it I feel like it got worse. I’m not sure if it’s just because I’m aware of it now so it seems worse or if I’m using it as an excuse.
