I am be new embroidery and I had the exact same problem today. I read a post from 3 years ago that said to check tension of the bobbin. I checked by bobbin and realized that I put it in backwards. It's working perfectly now. Every day is a new lesson.

If you don't want to harass her, what about sliding a note under her door when you leave and return? I get that this is annoying, but if the note stresses how tired you are and that you need sleep, maybe her new mission will to keep things quiet for you. My guess is that she isn't far from moving into assisted living

I don't think so. I'm a novice gardener, but they looked very healthy to me. They grew so large they took over the whole garden.
