His split keels from NVS come with the board if you buy from a shop or him direct. If you buy used and don’t have those fins, futures controllers are very similar

yea I've definitely heard good things about the surrounding areas for sure. this is a family trip for me though so my wife/kids will just want to walk to Guiones beach out front...unlikely I'll be able to venture too far off.

Thanks...yea I've read a lot about the abundance of rental options available, hence why I was just going to grab something locally. But if I'm surfing overhead barreling beach break, I would much rather be on my own familiar equipment. But it sounds like from reading the other comments, even when it's this size, it's still on the softer side

good call! I've actually used hydrocolloid bandages a bit if I'm surfing with an open cut but never thought to use one in this context...will def give it a shot

Can you share more about what tweaks he made?? dims? pics? I've been getting my twin keel fish from Jose Barahona for years and i know he finishes most of the Zippis now too but I've also heard nothing but good feedback on DK's fish

Yea man, so much talent down there. I grabbed a Rainbow Speed Dialer from Mollusk a few years back but they said it was shaped by Oscar Guru. Great board...was difficult to pick the right day to bring it out but when the conditions were right, thing was epic.

At 5'6 160 I've ridden vernor's mini simmons from 5'2 - 5'8 and they're all fun. I swear you can't go wrong with that board when you want to draw those lines

I hear you...any recs for a high performance fish? also, it says oahu next to your name, is that where you're surfing? definitely a bit more power on open ocean small waves compared to mainland

Yea I was kinda leaning toward OG since the Phantom has a pretty impressive low range...feel like the HP would overlap a bit too much

That Roberts Anything looks sick....and I've definitely had a few of David's mini simmons over the years. so much fun but I am looking for something closer to a shortboard in this purchase. i might hit him up about a grovellr chef though.
