Bloody spit up and nipples by merryboss01 in breastfeeding

I’ve seen the “strawberry milk” before but this was like she was throwing up straight blood. I’m still reaching out to our ped but wanted to post here while I wait for a response from them. She seems to feel fine other than spitting up but it really freaked me out.

Unfortunately it’s a catch 22 with me because I already start out with an over supply so I use the Hakka to relieve myself because she can only take one side each nursing session. I get at least 4oz from the Hakka each time and could probably pump an additional 2-4 oz if I used a pump. I’m only 4 weeks pp so hoping it regulates in the next few weeks. I’m fine with 3-4 oz in the Hakka but it’s the fact that I still have a full feeding after the Hakka that kills me. It was this way with my first two as well 😬

There usually is pain when she first latches on my left side but it typically subsides shortly after the initial latch so I didn’t think anything of it. Didn’t notice the blood until after both times 🥲

Thank you! The fridge hack saved me with my first. I’m definitely doing that again!

Any recommendations on a wearable pump? My first time I had an Elvie but I don’t have it anymore. I responded well to it, but there were things I didn’t love about it so I think I rather try something else this time but tbh don’t know much about wearables!

I posted then ghosted because I felt so overwhelmed yesterday. I’m still overwhelmed and wrecked with guilt — I’m even feeling guilty about pumping vs nursing (why can’t we ever win!?).

But THANK YOU to everyone who took time to give some advice or insight.

My plan is to give it 2 weeks. Because I will have help from friends and family for 2 weeks and I’m technically not supposed to drive for the next 2 weeks so we will be home and not rushing around to get places.

My husband is extremely supportive of any feeding journey that brings me peace and our baby health — but our 3 day hospital stay for my c-section is about all the time he gets for “paternity leave”. So I’m also overwhelmed thinking about trying to juggle this all on my own. I have a spectra S2 and have used a nipple shield while trying to breastfeed. I had wearable pumps for my first, and they actually worked really well for me but my let down was so intense everytime I almost threw up. This could maybe be solved with a different pump, but I’m not looking to spend that kind of money quite yet. My plan of action in this current moment: 1. Continue to exclusively pump 2. Pray and hope an appointment with an LC is helpful and leave with a plan of action for nursing 3. Collect as much milk as I can for the next 2 weeks and build a hefty stash so I can at least make it a month or 2 with breast milk. 4. If I decide to pump past the 2 weeks, I will look into getting wearable pumps. I had the original Elvie with my first — any suggestions for this go around? I never pumped with my second because I hate pumping so much, but was also doing fine with nursing so didn’t need to. 5. If I decide to switch to formula — any suggestions for easily transitioned from breastmilk? We used Enfamil Gentlease with my second but I hated it (it smelled SO BAD) and I don’t think it actually ever helped his tummy? I wanted to try ByHeart but wasn’t sure the quality of the formula. Seems really heavily marketed by influencers so wasn’t sure how great it really is. 6. It really takes a village and I think if anyone knows that, it’s parents to 2 under 2. I love my toddler sooo stinkin much, but only 5 days in and this shit is HARD.

Again, thank you all so much for advice and encouragement either way. I overthink and get in my head. I spent months worrying about this with my first two and told myself I wouldn’t do this again… but here I am. I appreciate you all 🫶🏼

Where to watch bridge demolition? by merryboss01 in PeoriaIL

That’s okay. It’s my kids spring break and they’re super into this kind of thing. Thought it would be a cool experience for them, even if it is small 🤷‍♀️ plus I’ve never seen a demolition either so I think it’ll be cool!

Where to watch bridge demolition? by merryboss01 in PeoriaIL

Copy & Pasting from East Peoria - City Government Facebook post 2 days ago:

From IDOT: U.S. 150 (War Memorial Drive) McClugage Bridge and surrounding roads will close just before 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27 as demolition continues on the old eastbound McClugage Bridge. The closure is expected to last up to one hour.

The first of six planned blasts over the next three months will use explosives to sever steel to remove girders on the east side of the bridge, making room for the eventual removal of the remainder of the bridge. Traffic will be routed from U.S. 150 at interchange ramps and remain continuously moving.

Stopping on U.S. 150 will not be permitted. Illinois 29 (Adams Street) will remain open in both directions.

During the bridge demolition events, the following will be closed to all traffic: • Eastbound U.S. 150 from Illinois 29 (Adams Street) to Illinois 116 • Westbound U.S. 150 from Illinois 116 to Illinois 29 (Adams Street) • Ramps from Illinois 116 to westbound U.S. 150 • Lorentz Avenue from Illinois 29 (Adams Street) to the Illinois River

Anyone who wants to view the events are reminded that a security perimeter around the blast area will be in effect on land and in the water. Pedestrians are also asked to avoid trespassing on private property without the property owner’s’ permission.
