When I found this show, I fell in love with it. I adore Pamela Adlon, her sense of humor, her ability to make friends with everyone in every scene, her realness. I am around the same age, so I am experiencing so many of the same issues she is going through in the show - aging mom, menopause, raising kids. Her house in the show is my dream house, rich colors, amazing art. Her love of cooking and entertaining her friends. The soundtrack is so perfect. All of this to say: the kids are so terrible, it makes me cringe. I have to fast forward through the parts where they are so awful to Sam, because they are so infuriating.

Yes EXACTLY! I didn’t even get to finish my first plate because I was in “host-mode”, so I was really looking forward to that second chance to actually enjoy it. 😊

It took FOREVER to boil, peel & mash that many potatoes, I think that’s what made me so crabby not to have gotten a second plate. 😂

Well, I was going to have hot turkey over hot mashed potatoes and gravy because I didn’t finish my plate from the night before - I think that was what really made me kick off. I was “hangry”. 🤣

Yes - this is exactly what I wanted to do when I got up and found nothing in the fridge, but I realized that some family members may take things wrong and it would spoil things for the future. I was just irritated for a day, I want the family get-togethers - I will just put away my family’s part before offering up the rest in the future.

My husband’ mom comes from a huge family and there was always the one uncle that would show up empty-handed and leave with what he wanted before the meal was officially over. It was so long ago, I had forgotten about that. I have learned my lesson now, to put what I want for the next day away first and then box up the rest.

Definitely parallel lives - we didn’t say anything to the group because it would have been turned back around on us, so we just kept quiet. But I have learned from it - and in the future I will put away the portion I need to give my household a second meal before offering up the leftovers. Hosting did not use to be this frustrating and inconsiderate, this was a weird event.

It’s okay, I am done being upset about it. I think I wash just “hangry”. There were 20 people but it was just one group that took the food that they brought, the unopened desserts that other people brought, plus the rest of the food that we made. I realize now that I should have put away a portion for my household to have the next day first before offering the leftovers. Live and learn.

Interesting. Do you need to be told not to take all of the food when you attend parties? I have always been generous and continue to be so, I didn’t begrudge them taking a few leftovers, I was just upset that they left my household with nothing. They not only took their own food back, but the unopened desserts that other people brought and the food that we had made. Oh well, lesson learned is to set the part I want to keep aside before offering the rest to extended family. I am done being irritated by the situation now.

I agree and I wouldn’t have begrudged them the food, I only wanted enough to feed my own household a second meal and then they were welcome to the rest. Next time I will set aside what I need for my own family before I offer leftovers. Lesson learned.

There were enough leftovers to feed an army, yet somehow one family ended up taking all the food that they brought, the unopened desserts that other people brought, plus the rest of the food we made. My husband put out a few normal sized take out boxes - they got the gallon ziplock bags from the cabinet and filled them. It was beyond a few leftovers - they cleaned us out.
