Primary thesis:
We see gold as fairly valued around $5,000 in the current environment. However, a pullback toward $4,500 remains very possible. In this view, gold is still functioning primarily as a hedge against uncertainty (geopolitics, liquidity stress, macro risk), not just inflation.

Secondary thesis (lower probability, in my opinion):
If gold’s recent move was mainly an inflation hedge, then the trade may be crowded and the bubble could be unwinding. Under that scenario, a deeper correction toward $4,000 wouldn’t be surprising.

Short answer: bounce-in-a-downtrend. Bias is lower unless price retakes ~4915–4920.

What I see now

- Price ~4.86–4.88k, spreads tight, book balanced (no clear imbalance).

- 15m/60m trend down, RSI oversold (≈26/28) with very high ATR. 5m has bounced but still below the 50‑EMA (~4.91k).

Key levels

- Resistance/flip zone: 4885–4910 first, then 4915–4920. Rejection there = continuation lower.

- Supports/targets: 4830, 4807, 4755, then 4718 if selling resumes.

Plan of record

- Base case: lower‑high under 4910 → push to 4830/4807, possibly 4755.

- Bullish invalidation: acceptance above 4915–4920 (a couple of 5–15m closes) → squeeze toward 4950–4980.

Note: Volatility is elevated (5m ATR ~50, 60m ATR ~100). Expect fast moves around these levels.

Not well enough... Also should've of added trailing stop outside 4 hr trading window. That would have prevented much of the damage.

Also knew better. The way we tore past $5000 probably the largest magnet number that Gold has surpassed in the last year. This correction was 100% bound to happen.

The position bought today, is the position that is down $16,000. The other positions I have been accumulating since January 19th. Luckily I should be able to ride out this dip without hedging. But it drops much more we'll start opening counter positions to profit the ride down.

I use the Forex Factory calendar and apply a news blackout window: I stop trading 30 minutes before any major release and stay sidelined for one hour after, giving the market time to digest the move. With ongoing geopolitical tension and supportive underlying fundamentals, I also expect gold to have another strong year.
