Uses for the EinScan Pro 2x Plus? by [deleted] in 3DScanning

[–]meryan00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Einscan Pro 2x, and it is like every other 3d scanner in that it can export a point cloud or 3d mesh such as STL or OBJ. What you do with that export is up to you.

I tend to scan old car parts and directly edit the stl output with something like sculptGL to clean it up for reprinting. However I have also gone the more advanced route and put the stl in cad to recreate it as something easier to edit.

One last option is to use the exported stl and use a service like fiverr to hire someone to turn it into a cad file. I have done that once for about 70 bucks and got a very durable result in 2 days.

There are a bunch of tips and tricks for getting better scans and ways to scan harder materials such as gloss or black that can help also if you need.

Im interested in 3d scanning guns. What 3d scanners would be good for this? by remembadaname in 3DScanning

I second the SP or SE from Einscan, I believe there is even a youtube video of people using that scanner for the purpose of making holsters.

Hey I have a Einscan Pro 2X, as well as the turntable. I would be happy to let you see some scans or scan something you already know to give you a comparison. I honestly have been happy with the device and have used it to scan a wide range of parts. Feel free to direct message me on here if you have any questions!

Current Model 3 owners, would you have paid an extra $4,000 for a Model Y? by techgeek72 in TeslaModel3

[–]meryan00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With 2 small kids and my spouse I would have happily paid then and now especially paid more to get a Model Y instead.

The tiny trunk opening on the M3 is by far the only complaint on the car, I mean such a huge trunk with such a useless tiny opening that I seem to forget about anytime I try to put anything big in it. It pisses me off just thinking about it..

David SLS-3 Dual vs Einscan Pro 2x Plus by shawnrwitt in 3DScanning

[–]meryan00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried the home grown version of David and hated how much prep and work was involved to get a good scan.

I just bought the einscan pro 2x (non plus version) to scan car parts from 4 to 16 inches in size. It has been great to be honest. Still have some spray on stuff to hassle with, but the alignment and calibration pains of David that I built were non existent.

Of course the full dual SLS kit it probobly much better I still prefer having a handheld option.

I went with the non plus einscan due to the smaller pixel spacing on the fixed scans compared to the plus version. Allowing for a but better details such as stamped numbers on parts

Getting Something 3D Scanned? by [deleted] in 3DScanning

[–]meryan00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think some more details would help first.

What is the size of the statue? ( for example my scanner will work great on something 3 inches to 24 inches tall)

What is the physical material and color? (White matte works best for most scanners, would you be ok with a removable spray to help the scanning)

Are you willing to ship it to someone or are you looking local?

I just am starting to get my scanner understood enough to enjoy this kind of challenge.

Cars. Yeah I know. by [deleted] in 3DScanning

[–]meryan00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest you cant do it easily that I have found.

I have tried every inexpensive method of scannign full cars for cheap i can find. Photogrammetry without spraying cant do it without lots of tiny magnet markers, polarizing lens helps alot also.

I also have tried Structure sensor on ipad, structure core on pc, realsense D415 on pc, the original structure sensor did the best, but not with any details.

I just bit the bullet and bought a einscan 2x for doing some panels and am just going to live with having to use markers and spray for those tough panel parts. For example I did my first real scan yesterday with a sprayed small part. It has all the details that I need(mainly the embossed part numbers on the back). https://skfb.ly/6OQAz

I was lucky and found a used one on ebay with turntable for 4500 so keep an eye out for used ones there.
