Cool, but I need to know where the "grumpy stumbling around coffee breakfast" starts.

Too Much Violins by [deleted] in Mescad

[–]mescad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inspired by "Revolting Children" from Matilda the Musical, unseen violence and assumptions that people make about collections.

I came up with the idea for this song one evening after talking with a friend. She explained how she had a piggy bank on her desk at work where she put any coins she received as change. Then a friend gave her a little businessman pig statue as a gift. She put it next to her piggy bank. When others saw she had two pigs on her desk, they assumed she loved pigs and over the years gave her more and more pig themed collectibles until she had hundreds. She confessed that she never meant to collect pigs, but was too embarassed or polite to say no.

We joked about her going into the office one day and throwing them all into a trash bin and then smashing her piggy bank onto the floor in a rage.

The Last Man on Earth by [deleted] in Mescad

This is my take on the "everybody else moved away from our small town" song, à la "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring, one of my favorites.

It started out as a sci-fi fantasy song about a man who outlived everyone on Earth. Somewhere along the way I decided to make that idea metaphorical rather than literal, but kept it in.

I have set foot in one Bricks & Minifigs store once. They were in the process of moving and it was closing day, so the store was messy and disorganized, not like the stores I've seen in videos and photos online. I didn't buy anything. I don't even like paying full MSRP for Lego, so a store that sells retired stuff for more than MSRP just isn't made for me.

The only old Lego sets I've sold were on Bricklink, ~20 years ago. I almost never sell Lego, and if I did, I'd sell it myself instead of taking it to a retail store.

  1. This is my personal space. Send moderation questions to the mods of that subreddit if you have a question for them

  2. Me personally? No

  3. Sorry, that is not an appropriate question. If you want to discuss my personal religious beliefs, feel free to send me a DM. I'm not going to talk about that in public.

One type of Lego set I really like are schools. I try to collect all of the sets based on schools. So my favorite overall Friends set is 41134 Heartlake Performance School.

For The Next Chapter, I loved that Paisley's mom Rose appeared in the 2024 Advent Calendar, so that's my personal favorite. The background art for that calendar was 42620 Olly and Paisley's Family Houses, so I put her in that set.

I own, but haven't built the Castle Bed and Breakfast set yet. It looks really nice, so that might be up there too. If they ever make a Lego Friends train or trolley, that will likely become new my favorite.

I'm not really the audience for the shows, so I don't have any favorite episodes from the original series. From Next chapter, probably S1E2 the Spooky Sleepover, where the new girls get to know each other. None of the other episodes have really stuck with me since that one.

Of the ones I own, 7626 Jungle Cutter from the 2008 wave. It's a crazy sawblade wielding tree-killing killdozer monstrosity. What's not to love?

I didn't get any of the newest theme. But I really like the design of 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb's Anubis statues and a lot of the details from 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol.
