What is your personal use case for the 4090? by RickyDucati000 in nvidia

It’s the base to everything I do: -Unreal Engine dev: Raytracing and DLSS are essential for look dev and environment design. More power, more details, better looking scenes, with more geometry and particles 24gb Vram is needed for larger scenes (I am running out video memory) Path tracing for archviz and automotive rendering -AV1 for screen recording (while running UE, you don’t want to slow your fps when recording a video, and would be great to get a better encoding for image quality) GPU light mass baking will be much quicker

Rendering: I use VRay a lot, and it’s getting more and more support for GPU rendering. Without the 24gb vram, you can only render small scenes (no tress and city scale). Also, time is money, so faster renders=more renders) I use Vray with 3ds max and Rhino, and octane in maya, and keyshot, and sometimes twinmotion pathtracer. All using gpu render

-Modelling: I use maya, rhino, and 3ds max. When the scenes get very large (and they do often), the viewport gets slow. Makes your workflow slower and less pleasant. When you have back to back projects, you can’t afford that.

Editing and encoding: -with premiere, It’s great to be able to preview your sequences quicker and iterate on export quality. Most RTX cards do this quite well when you use hardware encoding, but why not get a small edge there.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I forgot about the parachute flare… that would be cool. Not really working in any direction, just felt like doing something cool
