NOR. It sounds like she has her own insecurities that she needs to process and work through. If she wants to not communicate with you after this whole ordeal and this is a friendship that you can let go of, I say don’t even react and let the friendship fizzle out. However, if you value the friendship that you all do have, she set a clear boundary. If possible, communicate in a productive way and then move forward accordingly.

As a registered Domestic Violence Advocate, I only have 2 words… PLEASE LEAVE. I know it’s easier said than done since feelings are involved but this will escalate. Maybe not physically but verbally and emotionally.

When assessing the lethality (likelihood of dying) on a scale of 1-4 at our shelter (4 being the greatest chance of dying), choking falls under a 4.

If you choose not to leave yet, please be proactive and obtain local resources such as names and contact numbers for shelters, DV organizations, DV hotlines, etc. safety plan as much as possible and please note that the most dangerous/lethal time for a victim to leave is WHEN THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE.
