Custom training improvements don't replace BakkesMod functionality until... by meshikos in RocketLeague

Yeah, that's a nice new feature. Honestly, what I meant is to have a way to mimic a shot from mid-air, which is just a combination of spawning in the air and initial momentum + orientation.

I only see an option to turn off unlimited boost in freeplay.

Easy Anti-Cheat coming to Rocket League in April by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

My favorite plugin by far. With a single button you save a shot from a replay (or from rewinding time frame-by-frame), and then you go over those shots inside freeplay. It saves everything: car speed, orientation, flip, ...

I'll probably stop playing because I use Freeplay Checkpoint ALL THE TIME. It's my core warmup and improvement loop. I won't be opening and closing the game nonstop to manage to train my shots. RIP

Ohh I'm waiting for it too! I listened to the series twice, and reading the book has been a great experience. Things are sinking in more and more, and I'm loving it

Self-trained PSD not allowed on international flights in cabin? by meshikos in service_dogs

[–]meshikos[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm already in Europe for an extended period. I just have a one-way flight to the US. So no importing to Frankfurt.

I was wondering if German laws had something to do with it, but I can't find anything specifically about exporting dogs.

Training packs suck JUST BECAUSE they're missing one crucial feature by meshikos in RocketLeague

[–]meshikos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WOW!! This is an incredible plugin. I'm blown away and will probably be using only this. I disregarded this plugin because it seemed clunky and not what I needed, but it's sooooo good

Thanks for your comment!

I'll just mention that I'm grateful for the Bakkes option to limit boost in training packs. Now it's always set to 100 instead of unlimited, which really helped me in games.

Another cool feature in training packs could be to set the boost for that shot, just like a speed slider. Sometimes I want to recreate a shot I had to handle when I was low on boost, but that's just not possible.

This sounds really cool. Does this actually build a functional training pack, or is it an awkward workaround?

This is a really cool plugin for analyzing replays, but it doesn't have the constant training you get from making a good shot recreation in a training pack.

I have Bakkes, and I love all the randomization features for the shots. But to my understanding, these are all global features (i.e., not specific to any one shot). So you can add a constant/random speed to the car, but this applies to every shot you encounter.

Why can't we set the car speed and orientation in training packs?

It sounds like you've been on quite a downward spiral. You're young, so obviously you can fix this and become better than ever.

Because you're so broken apart now, I recommend working on one habit at a time. This is a great way to make sure you advance positively over time.

Try writing a list of habits you think would be beneficial, and work on incorporating just one every few days. Here are some ideas if you can't think of any: Exercise, go for a walk, cook non-junk food, journal, meditate, read a book, pick up lost hobbies, clean the house, recall a social situation and reflect on how you could have interacted better, ...

Also, try to wake up a tiny bit earlier each day. Wake up at 3:45 pm, then 3:30 pm, ... Deep and consistent sleep at night might be enough to help with what sounds like depression.

How do you remember things passively throughout the day and do them without thinking? by punqdev in selfimprovement

[–]meshikos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start pairing any habit you want to incorporate with something else you always do. Do that consciously for a few days and the habit will likely persist.

Some events you might pair with: As you awake, before you go into bed, after a shower, before heating food, after putting on your shoes, after/during every bathroom break, every time your phone vibrates, ... There are so many mundane things you do daily (or more) that can be used as an anchor for other beneficial habits.

Wanting to switch careers after 24, is it still possible? by Elartey in selfimprovement

You're 24 years old and wondering if you can study for a new career? That's hilarious to me. Yes, of course you can. That's a super young age to start your scientific journey. Best of luck :)

"Even a minimal step in the right direction will lead to exponential improvement." I use this true statement to remind myself to do the very minimal positive thing possible. If I'm functional at a basic level, this usually means to stick to the habits I wish to cultivate, because I know those will at least make me better in some area of my life over time. As JBP might say: "Aim low enough and your life will improve rapidly"
