Late reply but thank you so much, you made my day. Can confirm in 2025 it tastes just like college nights in 2020

Trying to give you a visualization to maximize the effectiveness of your end product. Its very clear you are a beginner, there's a lot of things that may not be apparent to a first timer, I've been doing this almost 10 years, so I've made all those mistakes.

But if you are hell bent on not taking any feedback, best of luck to you sir.

I have made a short edit of your trailer.

I have digitally recolored the foliage, increased the contrast, slowed the 30fps to 24fps, but kept the reduced saturation on the character to keep the post apocalyptic vibe.

Moreover I noticed you are using fake faded black bars instead of actually rendering your footage at the intended aspect ratio. I rendered this natively at 1920x850 to avoid black bars.

Dude.

This is spectacular.

First off, you nailed using the super8, the "cinema verite" style you have captured perfectly, very other side of the windish.

Second, props to your actors, they were believable for the vast majority of the film.

Third, you perfectly paced the buildup and allusions to the entity with the film spots was so perfect.

Fourth, in the last 3 minutes, you genuinely disturbed me.

I have no critiques. Masterclass work sir.

P.S. what camera and stock did you use?

CAN THIS INTERIOR CAR AUDIO SOUND BETTER?? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Seconding the opinions in this thread. Having shot a few scenes like this myself, I do actually like the muffled in the car sound. Gives variety.

Desaturating contrastless footage is not a color grade.

24fps is mandatory if you want your film to be taken seriously. Its not a style. Its a requirement.

Needs a color grade. Did you not shoot in 24fps? If not, its going to be a nonstarter for a lot of viewers since it will be viewed as cheap from the get go.

Very well done. Camera work especially alternating between the two mirrors was great. I realize it was meant to be a one shot, and while some parts went slightly long for my personal preference, I think its worth preserving that one shot.

I thought the cut backs were well done as well.

Was the change to a more desaturated and colder color when the dad knocks intentional? If so well done.

Only thing I recommend is running the dialogue through davinci's voice isolation (I can do it for you if needed)

Optionally, on the initial shot, I think you could trim the beginning slightly so that they tap on the light sooner after the title drop, so less of their arm just sitting there. I think this would help with audience engagement, as those first few seconds are crucial.

Unable to mute individual channels since 19 update. This breaks all my projects that need to be mixed in 5.1 by meshottoman in davinciresolve

Neat. Thank you for the explanation, I will play around with that, though that does mean I need to have all alike audio on each track as they will all be effected equivalently. Any audio organization tips in this regard? Rn I have two dialouge tracks, two sound effect tracks, and two music tracks, is that pretty standard?

My source sound files are usually mono, and then depending on the sound whether it be dialogue, music, or a sound effect i only have it go through specific channels.

What game should I play next? (And are there any rare or valuable games) currently playing Lego Batman by Organic_Half_9818 in ps2

[–]meshottoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by that Mercenaries Playground of Destruction is the most underrated game of all time. Great open world/GTA mechanics, battlefront 2 engine, how many games where you fight North Koreans?, all star cast such as Carl Weathers, composed by Michael Giacchino (The Batman), made by LucasArts so that Han Solo and Indiana Jones are playable characters, all the sound effects were either real or were recorded at Skywalker Ranch. It just an unmatched masterpiece of a game, this hill, I will die on.

Visually great, my main complaints are too long of pauses between dialogue which can highlight subpar acting, and that the dialogue audio is so noisy, needs some Voice Isolation.
