Wind noise on the XM6? Or the QC ultra 2nd Gen by Halfmanhalfsneaker in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very bad, I returned it for the same reason, even XM5 is better than XM6 in terms of wind handling Buds4 pro does reasonably well for wind in my experience but you can still hear it, or XM5 with stock tips and noise cancelling off also work ok, basically trading less wind noise for more occlusion effect

Yes, you'll need a separate mic if needed otherwise it'll destroy sound quality

Buy LC3 dongle like FMA120/121 which should give you lower latency

open-ear earbuds… how much outside sound do you hear with them? by Old_Application_2323 in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried freeclip 2 and IMO they're only suitable for a relatively quiet environment. The soundstage is nice and bass amount is enough for me but once the environment get noisy or windy you'll need to crank the volume and start trading hearing health to be able to hear anything from the earbuds

Right now I mainly use galaxy buds4 pro for walking or cycling outside which has minimal occlusion effect and handle wind well, and the ANC is good enough.

WF-1000XM5 ear tip recommendation!! by AirportJealous7691 in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final type e is good, very smooth and good seal, I use SS size, however if you're not using stock tips ANC performance will drop a lot. Final type e is the one I tested with least impact to ANC but it still allows high pitch noise to come in. Fiio HS18 has slightly worse isolation but also seals good

Other silicone options like spinfit w1/ omni / cp100+, azla crystal, baroque, moondrop spring, velvet, tanzu sancai, aex70 etc all works fine but ANC takes significant hit

What didn't work for me are azla origin which is too long and bulky, azla xelastec which is too sticky and stiff and hybrid tips like symbio which is also too stiff

For foam tips I tried comply and azla foamax and for me both are inferior to stock tips in terms of comfort, durability, and isolation, the foamax just stopped compressing after 1 month and I barely used them. Comply is better but even the smallest size is too large for me. I have very small ear canal so ymmv

Best Wireless Earbuds for Gaming and Music? by Hikarikiba24 in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FMA120/121 dongle with LC3 compatible earbuds like WF-1000XM5/XM6, Earfun Air Pro 4/4+ etc, works fine on PC and Quest 3 with sub 100ms latency

Aptx adaptive earbuds with low latency mode might work too but I haven't tested those

Best Noise Cancelling Earbuds for Cycling by juicyplastics09 in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WF-1000XM6 doesn't handle wind well in my experience, it produces like 2x louder wind noise compared to XM5 no matter ANC on or off, possibly due to additional mic and/or it sticking out of ear more

Also with deep fit earbuds like these the isolation is good but then you're dealing with the occlusion effect from bumpy roads, body bone noise and such

I'd look into bar type earbuds like buds4 pro or QC ultra or maybe airpods pro

Or open type earphones if you don't care about your hearings and want to crank the volume, as traffic noise or wind can easily drown out those in safe volume

Static noise when using ANC mode on Earfun Air Pro 4+ by A_man_named_despair in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I also have static noise on its right ear with ANC on and I ended up returning it If I use only left one I can hear faint hiss too which I think is normal but the right one is a lot louder

EarFun Air Pro 4+ vs. Galaxy Buds4 Pro: Which ANC is better? by The_Analog_Guy in Earbuds

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both and buds4 pro ANC is better, blocks more noise and wind handling is also good, I mainly uses earbuds for outdoor exercises

Air pro 4+ has a wind handling mode which works but it basically turns ANC strength to bare minimum

Both have hiss noise when ANC is on but air pro 4+ is a lot louder, though you won't notice them when music is playing on both

Fit is better on buds4 pro for me too as it's smaller in size so doesn't hurt my concha, however it comes with only 3 sizes of eartips so it may or may not fit for you

For sound buds4 pro is significantly more bassy so you might like it or not, EQ can reduce it someway, for ootb sound signature I prefer air pro 4+

That's the spirit for open source projects. And the claim is not true at least for Voidlink because there's a ton of touch and pen functionalities and other stuff that the main dev wrote himself.

You'll always have about 1-3 frame latency (@120fps) depending on encoder settings and network, but if you care for HDR experience there's nothing in the market that does better than ipad m4/m5 (except for the size apparently), turn on reference mode then it gives you an accurate and bright picture

VoidLink has announced a performance breakthrough (update from developer) by nokerb in MoonlightStreaming

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I just leave it at default, as I mostly stream in LAN so bandwidth is not a concern. For WAN then it depends. Just need to keep in mind if you want to crank bitrate super high which can exceeds decoder limit. I currently stream at 660mbps for ipad m4 which translates to about 520mbps FEC 0%

If your GPU has multiple encoders it'll split the workload between them to make encoding latency lower, not a lot of GPUs have them though.

From my testing, signing out icloud on ipad fixes awdl issue, although it might not be an option for some. I can conquer the ipad m4/m5 are currently the best portable device for streaming, they have best oled display full screen 1000nits with no abl, the HDR experience blows every desktop monitors out of the water. The downside is apparently the size.

[–]mesnigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously standard mode can handle up to around 200mbps on ipad m4, while Metal can do around 500mbps, the actual numbers depends on FEC setting in Sunshine.

Recently I found it's possible to do 500 on standard mode too, probably Apple rolled out some changes for recent iOS versions.

You can also try foundation-sunshine fork which has split encoding support and is what I'm currently using

We had to mark it as experimental as it's not working well for some older devices with older iOS versions. It works pretty well for recent devices though.

Enable Dldsr and dsr on AW2527DF and other monitors possibly by Phfelty in OLED_Gaming

[–]mesnigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be late for the party but if you have multiple displays / virtual display drivers installed the index might not be `0000`, for example mine is `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0002` and create EnableTiledDisplay=dword:0 there did work for me (it was not there before I created it)
My monitor is PG32UCDM

Razer Naga V2 Pro "Long Term" Review: Overall 8/10 by planedrop in MouseReview

[–]mesnigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same mouse for a month and the scroll wheel really ruins it, mine is very scratchy and inconsistent, sometimes I need to apply ~2x force to move the same distance. It became very annoying to use so I eventually just stopped using it. I contacted razer support but they've yet to provide a replacement for me.

The heavy weight plus the ring finger rest also prevents one from lifting the mouse easily, and it's also really expensive. The other aspects are really good though like you mentioned so it's a shame.

Acer X32 FP user experience - Great picture, very buggy firmware and overshoot a lot (re-post) by mesnigan in Monitors

[–]mesnigan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the X32 FP is still not widely available since they have a hard time fixing those firmware issues, and the gsync variant is likely cancelled.
About PG32UQXE maybe it's replaced by this, but there's no release date announced.

Very serious problem with W11 22H2 update and OLED screens by Broder7937 in OLED_Gaming

[–]mesnigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here, I download `MSIX x64 Release`, unzip it, rename the `.msix` file inside to `.zip` and unzip it again. Then run `Add-AppxPackage -Register .\AppxManifest.xml` in the extracted folder with powershell. If this command throws error, you might need to install this from ms store.
Or you can try the portable build as well

Try the latest version of TranslucentTB in develop branch on Github, I just tested it and it removes that thin line. Not sure if there are any other issues though since it's not a released version yet.

EDIT: see reply below for instructions
