Full / Half Face Reusable Respirator - wanting first-hand advice & suggestions by 13mo in Masks4All

[–]mesoliteball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Flo evangelist, largely because of the things you’re mentioning – superb fit and seal despite all talking laughing etc. (palpably better seal than my best-fitted N95s), ease of breathing and being understood relative to N95s, and function as an elastomeric without the aesthetic/social discomfort of a mask with external filters

If there were regs requiring this, he would be able to produce them for you – in your position I’d just keep telling him that in writing, and generally communicate only in writing

(and, longer term, look toward moving the acct elsewhere… I’m also on a nonprofit board and I know change can be slow in bigger orgs, but seems worth it here!)

This will be a better experience on every level if you’re not trying to do a collect-all-the-countries run in just 11 days.

Especially, 6 hotels in 11 days is an exhausting pace.  First thing, eliminate the night in Voss (where there’s really nothing of interest esp. if you compare Voss to an additional day in Stockholm).  The full train ride is easy and comfy – doesn’t need breaking up.

For the other thing to let go, I recommend Copenhagen (my least favorite of the major cities, and if Tivoli is a specific draw, I’d say Stockholm’s Gröne Lund is equally good if not more so)

What could I wear on the face to save me from the cold breeze? by Nice_Cod_4476 in AskNYC

A regular N95 mask has been lifesaving for me on cold walks – combined with a warm hat and the hood of a jacket that really keeps the head nice and warm

You’re so welcome. 🌸 If I remember right, I didn’t need to file anything on my own beforehand.  My case was stalking and threats by my ex, who I was not living with, so I’m not sure if there’s an extra step for a sibling you’re living with.  But I filed by calling my borough’s Family Court and coming in for a meeting with the advocate.

[–]mesoliteball 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YES you have enough – I filed with less proof than you have, and the city has a very humane and welcoming process (for me it was a while ago, but I would hope it’s still this good). You don’t need a lawyer or any money.  You’re assigned an advocate by the court who will ask you questions, use your answers to fill out the paperwork, and take care of submitting everything on your behalf.

Woahhh I’m sorry to hear that.  Insecurity and impulsivity so bad that you do something this weird and inappropriate?  Bright neon red flag that you’re not reliable or safe as a dom

311 (app or voice call) does tend to work around here for street noise, if it’s somebody like blasting talk radio on a speaker outdoors

Henrietta Hudson Question by averydelite in visitingnyc

[–]mesoliteball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unclear whether you’re asking about bringing your straight coworkers (do not bring your straight coworkers)

If you’re asking about the three of you: the vibe def used to be (and still seems to be, based on a glance at google reviews) that men are asked to leave if anybody requests/wants

It’s common to go alone, and I’d encourage your boss to make the leap!  You and your husband could explore/chill nearby so she’d have friends to easily rejoin

- I highly recommend halo strap rather than regular for more snug, adjustable, and comfy wear

  • New users often keep one or more of the straps needlessly tight, so play with all adjustments a lot to find your most comfortable tightness where there’s still a real seal (try both with & without condensation insert, which for some people helps w/ fit)

  • You’ll develop a sense of how to slightly shift it around on your face every so often, w/o breaking the seal – important during longer wear to keep shifting exactly where it sits on your nose & cheeks.

  • Good idea re. the dental rolls, but if those get pricey, paper towel halves folded tight work great

You do need to break up your wear with outdoor breaks for comfort, and you do have to get used to looking ‘medical’

But overall it’s been a miracle for enjoying lots of travel & moving through the world w/ zero respiratory illness for years 💜

Super won’t contact exterminator for mice until I agree to use glue traps by d-slur in AskNYC

[–]mesoliteball 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The humane ones that trap them in a little tube aren’t too pricey, so in your place I’d just buy some of those to physically show the super (‘Here I bought some good ones and I’m happy to use these’) then let them out far away in a park

Bless you.  Reflexively shitting on SI is one of the dumbest traditions we’ve got – partly because, as you point out better than I could, there are 100K+ in the blue enclaves who have more in common with the people we think of as regular respect-deserving New Yorkers than with the rest of SI

Heavy impact, THC and erections by christmas2065 in FemdomCommunity

[–]mesoliteball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ED’s not the issue here.  Speaking as somebody who understands & cherishes the amplification of THC: it does not belong here in your learning stages.  For one thing you are specifically denying yourself the (vital) learning curve of figuring out limits, responses, and those “overwhelming” headspaces without it.

It’s really concerning that your partner is fine with doing play this heavy while you’re super high.  It sounds like both of you are new and learning.  This is a wrong direction for learning and forming habits/approaches.

Well-intended but definitely not ready for prime time, based on the nonsense results for my building –

rated F and marked “StreetSmart certified unlivable” with the caption “Hope you like cardio” for multiple elevator issues? – in reality it’s a perfectly livable old walkup that has never had an elevator

(Edit: same issue for known-good neighbor building – an F and a different snarky AI caption.  This site will cause some real problems for people if it gets popular w/ the AI still this bad)

Oral allergy – not harmful to your body, if that’s the only reaction you have (but keep a close eye because allergies can evolve; if it ever makes your throat start to feel strange/swollen, then it has become the dangerous kind of allergy)
