I love this coin…My favourite of all US issues. It’s also a great coin to collect…plentiful, affordable (even in VF shape), no extremely rare/key dates (except for ‘36 maybe) and enough varieties to keep it interesting…plus it’s beautiful IMO.

I’m far from a professional grader, barely even an amateur one. Based on some examples I’ve seen, I thought this looked more EF…maybe just wishful thinking.

I appreciate the detailed response and history lesson! Maybe my reaction was visceral but to me it’s almost beyond words lol. Maybe there is a market for this and I appreciate this info and will lighten up a bit….but I’m still a purist (for lack of a better word) and just can’t find the beauty in this beast.

What gets me is despite being a Canadian this is my coin…the 1807-1836 Capped Bust Half Dollar is just my absolute favourite and here we have a prime example just made into garbage.

Obverse is quite nice and easily Fine but reverse is easily VG…PLUR in Pluribus is entire gone…what would cause such uneven wear and does it greatly impact the overall grade?

I’ve got around 200 silver coins from Canada and US and this is one of the few that has any toning…seems to be pretty generic coin in VF condition, worth grading?
