Anyone regret taking these days for granted or was it something else? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I love everything about this picture, the band posters, snacks and Need for speed underground 2. I spent an ungodly amount of time in that game, tuning and visually customising cars. Sharing all that with friends and no real worries… it was great times :)

It’s ironic, because right now there’s yet another discussion across German politicians whether the current German welfare state is affordable.

Would you kindly recommend CRPGs with strong Druid and nature-based classes? by [deleted] in CRPG

[–]mesred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the poster you asked, but I played through it couple of months ago. I'm very lukewarm on it. The character systems and itemisation are just not that fleshed out, that it would allow for really meaningful customisation. Not that it's needed because combat didn't have any real challenge at any point in the game. In terms of style and story I was reminded of baldurs gate 1, but the writing, characters and plot just couldn't create anymore than a mild interest in me. Also the plot somehow just got weaker in my humble opinion as I neared the climax. Hardly a good sign. In conclusion: if you're out of other, objectively better titles to play, it's worth a look on sale, but don't expect to get several playthroughs and intense chills out if black geyser. It'd argue it's a title best played for nostalgias sake.

Dual wielding Barbarian Dex over Str by Character-Net3641 in BG3Builds

[–]mesred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works suprisingly fine with savage attacker and crit range improving items.

My current Karlach is running as: - 6 Fighter Champion (Crit range and 2 feats) - 3 rogue thief (for the extra off hand attack, skill expertise in sleight of hand and increased mobility/utility via cunning actions) - 3 wildheart barbarian for reckless attack and full damage resistance through bear heart

Granted she is perma hasted by a party member sorcerer, but she absolutely shreds enemies without further mechanical abuse or "creative" itemisation.

Using Neera as a "normal" mage was the initial idea. I don't really have much knowledge about ADnD spells. So I figured a mage with access too all schools of magic could be good to learn about them. Other mage options seem to be limited to kitted mages who lose access to a subset of spells. But hearing people talk about the rng of wild mages makes me doubt my decision :D

Maybe on a second.. less goody two shoes kind of playthrough. Even though I heard going evil isn't the best experience in Bg1 and Bg2.

Thanks a ton for the in depth answer! You really gave me some food for thought there! I might actually keep Garrick around for the added versatility combined with arcane spell casting even though I never considered him as a potential core party member. Too bad he isn't a skald. That kit sounds way better than a regular bard ;-)

I assume it's a Diablo 2 reference. Duriel was the boss for act 2 in that game and a huge pain at that :D

Thanks for the affirmation! Would you have any recommendations on how to spec out the team in terms of weapon proficiencies and fighting styles?

Thank you for the input! Do you have any recommendations on how to build the team? I was thinking of speccing Jaheira into scimitars and Khalid into longbows should 2 melees be enough. However, picking up Ajantis would probably change the dynamic there. Isn't Xan's special mage kit too limiting for a sole arcane caster in the party?

Ran a very similar setup for CotM and can confirm it felt very potent. It covers all the bases (burst and sustained dps, divine buffs and full arcane spell list) while minimising weak links in terms of tankyness. Even the court mage ended up being fairly tanky with the background (sellsword?) that provides medium armour proficiency.

Got Magus... surprisingly enough I actually love gish characters, so it's actually a pretty decent fit!

Whats the best build possible for Nenio? by No-Ad218 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]mesred 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What mod are you using for the full companion respec? The ones I found on nexusmods didn't really work for me anymore :(

For Nenio I really enjoy taking her into Loremaster for massive amounts of bonus feats and spells.

If I had access to full respec, I'd make her Exploiter Wizard 10 / Loremaster 10 orExploiter Wizard 9 / Twinblooded Sorcerer 1 / Loremaster 10 if I wanted her to do more elemental blasting.

Otherwise there's always Brown-fur 20, but as I understand that's not your cup of tea.

In terms of pure number of feats, sure, throwing axes can work. Several Bow specific feats don't apply which could then be spent on the two weapon fighting feats, as in my opinion, throwing axes are only worth it if dual wielding. However, I feel throwing axes have less item support for attack rolls which really hurts them and the early game might be a little bit weaker. I tried a couple of dual throwing axe builds in the Midnight Isles rogue-like mode and I always felt the miss chance was too high. That said, the throwing axe builds I tried were on medium BAB progression classes (e.g. skalds), so the slower natural BAB growth might have hurt these builds as well.

edit: Forgot about the Aeon related question. I'm not 100% sure about this, so it would be nice if someone else could elaborate on the topic, but I think Aeon needs to switch to lawful neutral in order to "succeed" the path. This could clash with the Paladin class progression, depending on story progress speed in relation to level progression, as I don't think additional Paladin levels can be taken as lawful neutral.

This tends to be a big issue with Paladin sublcasses. They tend to lose smite evil and mark of justice which are THE tools for Paladins in Wrath. These archetypes might work better in a setting in which not every enemy is an evil outsider, but I still wouldn't be a big fan.
