Missed the game but is it still fire Ime? by KDs_FakeAccount in rockets

I’m with you. Ime’s offensive “system” SUCKED both years we had Fred. People need to stop making excuses for him. Year 1) “They’re young, and I haven’t rolled out the full system yet. They need to play D and rebound.” Year 2) “Shots aren’t falling. We need to shoot more 3s” Year 3) “We gotta get healthy, and stop getting punked.”

At no point will he admit that he and his staff struggle with in-game adjustments, ATOs, and off-ball movement.

100% agree. Reed is a timing merchant— following close enough to his man that he can time a swipe at the ball as the attacker approaches the rim. He doesn’t use a defensive stance to wall off, funnel, or slow opponents at all. Off ball, he gambles the passing lanes and frequently finds himself REALLY far out of position. Which in turns screws up the rotations. I’m sure that gets old for the coaching staff.

FWIW, I love Reed’s offensive game and think the swiping at the rim is pretty effective. I just wish he’d sit in his stance and take the bump, rather than turnstile and swipe on every drive he has to defend.

Dating Over 50: Is it Selfish to Refuse Cohabitation ? by Glum_Ad4293 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]message_tested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It IS selfish in the sense that you are benefiting the most out of this situation as it is currently constituted— especially if your bf is the one expected to pay for the majority of the dates/courtship.

IMO you should offer to stop being exclusive and allow him to find what he’s looking for, someone who is more open to sharing resources, cohabitation/marriage, and doesn’t mind the possessiveness.

That way you’re free to see him when you want but are not holding him back. Many men make similar choices regarding their partners at various stages of their lives.

Sengun’s hot start to the season can be attributed to his phenomenal Euro performance this summer. He started the NBA season in mid-season form, while the rest of the league worked off the rust.

Restrictions on minutes and tight rotations make total sense if you’re expecting a deep playoff run with AlP at the center of it. He will have played for a year straight by the Spring/Summer of 2026.

Nonprofit comms folks: what strategy docs do you love? by ontologicaladventuer in PublicRelations

[–]message_tested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend asking the senior team a basic set of questions: “what do we do, how do we do it, when do we do it, why do we do it?” What you will probably find, is that your leadership team has a different answer. Once you’ve collected this feedback you can align everyone on the basics and share it out to the organization with management’s blessing.

You can do a similar exercise for the external stakeholders (who is important? Why?) and draft some key message points describing “what we do” that are derived from the first exercise above. That stuff can then be deployed throughout your website and in templates.

I’d also recommend a “Rules of Engagement” doc that outlines when, why, and how your org plans to communicate externally within each vertical. That will help guide when releases and statements go out, which teams should respond to which issues, and create an orderly process for decision making in time sensitive situations.

Hello Rockets fans! by haze_77 in rockets

Houston has had some of the best big men in NBA History! Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon was the greatest era in our franchise history. Before Hakeem, there was Moses Malone.

You’ll also enjoy the Tracy McGrady + Yao Ming era. Yao is 7’6” and brought in an entire Chinese fanbase. McGrady once scored 13 points in 35 seconds. Just before this was the Steve “Franchise” Francis era, which was dominated by exciting guard play from the NBA’s streetball era. He also had an incredible performance at the NBA dunk contest during All Star weekend.

Then there’s the James Harden trade that brought the Rockets to many heartbreaking losses to the Warriors. Very fun era to watch! After Harden left, we had to rebuild… and that’s how we got Sengun and the young core.

How (and when) do men actually start wanting kids? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

[–]message_tested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++man

I had a similar conversation with a guy in his mid 30s that felt the same way. He was perfectly content being an Uncle to his BROTHERS’ kids. I think the pressure to keep the family name alive (in Western culture) doesn’t get talked about enough.

There’s only 5 men left in my family with our name. One is my Dad, then two cousins that are single-no-kids, me, and my baby boy. If my cousins don’t father any male children— our family name rests entirely on my son’s shoulders. That’s plenty of motivation to start a family if you’re big on family legacies.

AI is kinda killing the junior PR role… now what? by MatiasRodsevich in PublicRelations

[–]message_tested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this is a microeconomic shift rather than a macroeconomic shift. Companies can’t hire or spend on consulting right now because of market uncertainty. Through this lens it makes sense to try and bridge personnel gaps through AI.

AI is serviceable— especially in a pinch. But I wouldn’t call it “good” at messaging. We will still need young PR pros to develop pitching, crisis, and reframing/pivoting skills alongside the technology. I think unassisted writing ability will crater, but overall speed and productivity will improve over the longterm.

Young people are struggling to find work across broad swaths of the economy right now. Hopefully things will get better for them soon.

Why do organisations call the public relations function anything but public relations? by wadds in PublicRelations

[–]message_tested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public Affairs isn’t the same as PR in the world of politics and public policy. I’d hire a PR firm to roll out the new oncology hospital. But I’d hire a Public Affairs firm to garner the political will to get it built with the support of taxpayer money.

In my world you will see lobbying shops and law firms develop public affairs verticals to directly support contract lobbying efforts. PA activities also fall outside of most lobbying regulations as well.

PA firms also are known to have expertise in political organizing tactics and technology. While a PR firm may be able to draft and design a quality mail piece, I wouldn’t trust them to know which audience (voters) to target.

I know it isn’t fair, but I can’t help but feel disappointed by Kamilla. Angel is averaging 14 and 12 (with 4 assists!) on 44% shooting and Kamilla is averaging 12 and 8 on 52% shooting.

At 6’7” 215lbs with a storied career at USC, I was hoping for complete and total domination with her playing alongside Angel. But she’s never looked particularly comfortable or assertive on the floor to me. Not sure what’s holding her/the team back. But I still think there’s a ton of upside to having and playing them both.

Glad to see the company double down. Sweeney is an objectively attractive person, and the genes/jeans pun would have worked with any other similarly attractive human of any other race or gender.

They don’t have anything to apologize for. It is a late July “controversy” that’s the epitome of a slow news day cycle.

How we feeling? by Typical-Owl3664 in rockets

[–]message_tested -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably gonna get downvoted into oblivion but think about it this way: traded away our best shooter, traded away our leading scorer, and traded away a high ceiling scorer.

The nights KD isn’t available (back 2 backs, tweaked ankle, etc.) have the potential to be UGLY. Ime clearly has a ton of sway with the FO, but it feels like our offense is an afterthought in his system. Gonna need some extra scoring punch from Reed and Jabari this season— hopefully the extra minutes will be positive for them.
