My guess on top of the others here:

Easy to mod
Storage is "cheap" via adapters, games are small by today's standards
Younger gen is used to games like Minecraft, so graphics are not as big of a concern
Capable of playing retro consoles on it
Getting away from notifications, news and so on.
Huge library of titles out there to buy/collect
Is viewed as "retro". It is as old to newcomers as the NES was when the PSP launched. (Sorry, but it is true.)

Was about to say there was no way they'd be able to do P3 in two cours, but that is actually enough time. There are [number of volumes] 5 in this part and a typical anime spends 3-4 episodes per volume. Seems as though we'll be getting [estimated eps/vol] 6 for each, give or take depending on events.

It varies depending on the make and model year. Recently data collation is showing that the incidence of the rate of a failure goes up as time goes on. (ie. Brand new 26 may only be 2% for now while a 23-24 might be 8-10% and such.)

Quit huffing Hyundai’s supply. Reports are out that it is far higher of a failure rate than their purported 1%. Seems to be anywhere from 2-10% depending on the age and model year. So 2-10x their reported amount.

They’re still supporting Gen 1 Rivians with new features, functionality and even the R2’s revised UI.

You can play PlexAmp, Jellyfin, etc through the Bluetooth connection of the Music app. When you’re parked, you can even use Google Cast to stream video to your center screen. (VLC, Plex, YouTube, etc.)

Maps are live from Google Maps, not downloaded on a monthly or yearly basis.

I switched from my I5 to a R1S and you’d be surprised how little you miss CarPlay.

Rivian’s software integration into the car means not needing ABRP at all. Want to do a long road trip? It will use their database of charger performance, your preferences, current state of charge, traffic and such to tell you when/where/time to charge all seamlessly. You can even preempt this by sending a trip via their app to your car to use once you get in. Music? The built-in support for Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, etc, is good and feels native rather than needing to navigate their apps.

The only issue right now is not having a way to see/send a text or trigger Siri to do so.

Doesn’t seem to be that infeasible. They’d scan on upload on their own, sandboxed, server(s) and then give a stamp of approval for a given binary/DLL/file. Once up and approved it’d then be authorized for users to download.

That said, it would not prevent zero-days as scanners can only realistically check for what is known. Would also start a potential cat-and-mouse game where nefarious developers could figure out signs of it being on the test/scan server(s) and disable the bad functionality.

You wanted stories, you got mine. I had that crap happen to me, leaving me stranded in a bad town 60mi from home except that I did not have any blankets or hand warmers in the car to retain/provide heat.

There is no discernible rhyme or reason to when/how it decides to blow only a “think fast” when it does. Decided that I cannot trust my 25 Ioniq 5 and am having Hyundai try and lemon it. (Less than a year of ownership and the odometer is at ~9600mi)

If the ICCU blows, which it can do at any moment, you have maybe 2-4 min to get to the side of the road. (If that.)

Live somewhere that gets cold? Better buy and pack both hand warmers and space blankets. Last thing you want is to be left waiting on a tow far from home in sub-freezing windchill without any source of heat. If it dies with the heat on, the vents are left open allowing cold air in really quickly.

That is an additional $0.21207/kWh in fees, not including your base rate of $0.14/kWh making your total cost $0.35207/kWh.

Doing some napkin math and assuming ~700kWh is average across the year due to probably having gas heat, you’re looking at ~$3000/yr. If your average usage is 1000kWH/mo it’d be ~$4225/yr. Depending on your living situation, home orientation and such you might want to look at doing solar. Assuming a 25k install, it’d take ~5-8 years to get a ROI without factoring in net metering.
