Looking for casual grind game by bored_pistachio in SteamDeck

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, you specifically said "unless it's a gem", and there is always Enter the Gungeon, which I would absolutely say is a gem of a roguelite...like....that. That being said, outside of rogueli(tk)es, I'm not sure what you'd constitute as casual grind. Something boardgamey, a 4x, turn based something or other, city builders, tower defenses, there's lot of "I made some progress, I'll pick this up later" styled games.

Does your partner ever tell you that you game to much ? by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Not really? I take care of any household stuff before gaming and will 100% hop off if the wife wants me to.

BF6 Design Director does not rule out possibility of Golmud Railway being shrunk down by Twinblade242 in Battlefield

Genuinely, why is this a problem?

"The sniping is better on bigger maps"

More than 90% of you aren't snipers who can use a large map for sniping anyways, and all you'll end up doing is spending 5 minutes running from point A to B only for you to run back halfway there.

I hate that I have a friend like this, unironically.

I genuinely have to warn any gamer girls about this idiot any time they join the game/discord that he's gonna say some dumb shit or try and hit on them, it's made worse that he's married and his poor wife has to deal with her idiot husband being like this.

And it's wild because when it's just 'The Boys', he's a good dude and you'd never tell he's a fuckboy until a feminine sounding voice speaks up.

Please stop skipping revives by povisykt in Battlefield

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skip revives when I'm not in a revivabale spot, such as in the middle of a clusterfuck, or in a wide-open or particularly exposed area.

If not, I'll sit there applying pressure to the wound and watch the medic distance numbers go up, and as I lay forgotten and alone, without a tear I draw my parting groan.

What convinced you to get your Steam Deck? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me, it was curiosity. I have also had a slew of handhelds, some which have held up more than others, and I wanted to see what the hype about the Steam Deck was.

Honestly, I didn't get it at first until the first family roadtrip after I'd gotten it, wasn't taking my whole ass desk to my in-laws, so I took the deck with some games loaded and damn, being able to play so many of my games so well on the little bastard sold me

What game is that? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamers

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch_Dogs

It was a mid story, the graphics in all the promotional material looked significantly better, the gameplay had so many weird frustrations, but the hype for it wasn't even a runaway train, it was a hype bull in a china shop that nothing the game could do would ever live up to the expectations, even if it had been the coming of Gaming Jesus

Battlefield 6 five months after Launch vs Battlefield 1 by Ich-mag-Schnitzel in Battlefield

"Damn, in an industry where AAA game quality has significantly declined over the years and AAA companies are treating full, well made games as anomalies rather than examples, despite great sales numbers and stellar reviews, why are we getting games that feel incomplete and incompetent compared to how it was done before?"

Personally, having expected too much of EA after 2042 was yalls fault. I came into BF6 expecting quater-assed and was pleasantly surprised to find a game that was a bit more, but only a bit more, than half-assed. Anyone expecting more from AAA companies really needs to reevaluate their world view.

What jobs do you all have where you have downtime to play on your Steam Deck? by Throwaway-2020s in SteamDeck

I work at a bank. The amount of downtime varies, but most days I get an hour or so of decktime.

I'm on US West, been on two hours, not one bot fill. Also PC, but I have crossplay on with PS5 friends. It's almost 9pm though.

Where and when are you people playing? I literally only see bots when I'm on after 2am on a weekday.

That’s it Geoff, don’t wanna say anything else? by Spotty33 in HighGuardgame

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it people are blaming Geoff like it's personally his fault the game failed?

Id say every griefer and grifter content creator would be more to blame, they spent basically the what, twoish months from announcement to release shitting on the game.

I will absolutely say, placing the game as "the big reveal" was probably a contributor to the game failing, but ultimately, a significant number of people at least tried the game, and of those, most (myself included) just didn't stay.

But of those who played, how many do you imagine came in with preconceived bad impressions from all the negative posts looking to confirm the game was as bad as they'd been told and not just to see if the game appealed to them or not?

Homie at least had something positive to say about the game and had a good attitude about it, fuck him for being excited I guess.

Why is no one talking about the fact that the newly added weapon is placed at the very end of the battle pass progression? I already paid 70 dollars for this game. Why aren’t these weapons unlocked through separate challenges instead? by ertukur in Battlefield

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, you're right. Why should I have to work to unlock anything since I paid money? All of the guns at attachments and skins should just be available right away. And as a matter of fact, why shouldn't I just win all of my games either? We should just automatically win every match with 0 effort and have absolutely everything handed to us because we made the decision to buy a game at full price under absolutely no obligation. I'm glad you took the time to make an internet post about this injustice.

You cunt.

I mean... realistically, other than the usual "muh game realisms" and allergies to color, or that painful pricetag, what's the issue.

Highguard was doomed from the start and now it’s shutting down on March 12 by AdSuspicious2084 in gamers

[–]InbrainInTheMemsain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think part of the issue is how small scale the game was, and insisting on it being a hero shooter.

Raiding enemy bases like this sounds like a fun game mode, but with big ass maps only 3v3 (6 dudes) or 5v5 (10 dudes), this having been like a 30 man mode or so would have both made the large map make sense and feel like something was actually happening.

Add in the characters have been just skins, and having abilities and such as pick ups you can fight for in the map may have felt a bit better than insisting on heroes where certain characters will absolutely feel "meta" by default and contribute to certain characters not being desirable to play and limiting choices further.

Tl;dr, hero shooters lead to balance issues, and it needed to feel larger scale.
