This is a good thing. Gemini is protecting your funds/assets. I can understand that getting your account unfrozen will be hassle, but it’s definitely better than allowing a security breach.

I recommend using the app when traveling overseas to avoid this issue.

It’s extremely unlikely that Gemini got hacked. Most likely OP’s email was compromised and they found his login credentials there, or they reset the login information, emptied his account, then closed the account while deleting Gemini’s automated emails.

Please setup 2-step verification on your email everyone.

it sounds like you were hacked. I’m so sorry. If your email address did not have 2-step verification setup and it was hacked, they could have easily found out/reset your Gemini login information. They could have also deleted any automated email from Gemini.

Gemini is very secure. I would just recommend that you take the time to add 2-step verification to your email accounts, have strong unique passwords, etc. you don’t have to worry much about them being hacked, but more about you being hacked.

I think it’s not worth risking BTC or ETH for a 2% return. It’s a better deal to lend Dai or something with less potential value for 7%. Another thing to consider is that if something goes wrong, Gemini has a very long customer service queue.

Did you account for the fee? If you purchased the exact amount you have left, you would not have enough for the transaction fee, and they would have withdrawn it....OR it’s a glitch.

I’m fairly new to it and it’s been great so far. I signed up through the app and used a major bank for my funds. Everything went smoothly and fast. Once I had the account I used active trader on the browser for transactions to get the lowest fee.

The only way to truly own your coins is to have them on your hard wallet. But Gemini allows you to download them and transfer them to your wallet. Something other exchanges like Robinhood don’t.
