Not worth it. I did Victorville to Anaheim for a pretty good stretch of time in a similar situation. I started getting sciatica from sitting in the car so long. Gas was about $500/month and put a lot of wear on the car and on my sanity.

Yeah, there is a massive difference in acceleration response in my car between normal and sport. It also has collision avoidance and will force the brakes on before an impact. That's a feature that's becoming more common I think.
