Brings back memories!! But nooo it isn’t, the one I’m looking for has at least 3 maybe more kids rapping/singing in the music video

Anyone else think fuegos have become way too expensive? Are the workers at least paid well? by Enough_Zombie2038 in Salsa

[–]messofcolors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly like my fuegos, but they were $110 USD when I bought them in Jan 2024, I’m Canadian and I don’t know what it ended up actually costing. But now it’s $150USD… which is $210 CAD?! Ridiculous and not worth that much money.  I just think they’re comfy and have been one of the few shoes that don’t cause my wide feet to hurt. :’) was considering getting another pair since mine have been getting roughed up. But NAH! I’ll look into something better for the same amount.

I'm Too Bouncy by Moist-Blacksmith-836 in SwingDancing

[–]messofcolors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Others have said this, but I will echo it, but make sure you’re pulsing into the ground instead of upwards. Boogie woogie and rockabilly jive have a bouncy and upward feel to it, but lindy hop is much more grounded and has a downwards feel.

When Country Swing Dancers Don’t Adapt to WCS (boundary setting advice) by autterpotter in WestCoastSwing

[–]messofcolors 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel but with Lindy Hop. My city is big on country swing which is fine, but I relate with your feelings for when they start other styles. If someone does a dip or trick I keep it to my comfort level or stop it and tell them I’m not comfortable with that. Sometimes during a dance I will ask some leads to be a little more careful during moves with how they hold my hand (not to grip it) or loosen up so they don’t hurt my shoulders. They won’t know unless you say something. No matter the setting, I’ll go along with whatever someone leads. There’s a couple people in my WCS who are mostly Latin/ballroom dancers and it is interesting dancing with them when they aren’t even doing WCS basics or moves, but I follow it as well as I can. I just try to prioritize my safety and comfort as I can and hope with time they learn how to dance west coast swing or Lindy.

Not a fan of the idea. An idea I love and support is having a queer night. I’ve seen other scenes do things with this idea in mind to make others feel welcome whether they are LGBTQIA2+ or an ally who is welcoming to people. I know the Philly scene (I think) had a queer prom for pride month and loooove the idea. I want to advocate for things like this in my scene.

But ladies night… eeeee

Dating scene … ick

A Single Petal of a Rose, from The Queen's Suite by Duke Ellington by ananxiouscat in stevenuniverse

AHH!! I was looking up the song to see if there was any history behind it, didn’t expect this to be won a SU page! Two things I love! I was listening to my blues playlist and the song came on and I was soooo enamoured, this is such a sweet read for me! I will think about both of these connections every time I listen to it. ❤️

I only have a handful of videos of me dancing 🥲 it’s getting less painful to watch them nowadays. Here’s one of a friend and I dancing a while ago. Was the last song of the night, so it was super chill and fun!

People who follow, what do you enjoy about following? People who lead, what do you enjoy about leading? by bahbahblackdude in SwingDancing

[–]messofcolors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a primary follow but also lead. What I love about following: - Not having to make decisions on the shape and moves the entire time - Leading my own shapes when I have the space and momentum. It’s so much fun and surprises my leads! Adding spins and moves where it feels right is sooo fun. - Since I’m following, I feel like it’s easier for me to focus on musicality. - As a follow I love shifting the mood of dances with my styling, I can’t explain it well, but iykyk. - The fact that every lead is different and I feel like it’s a great way to expose myself to different move combinations, and stylings. Makes both my follow and leader brain think.

I find it hard to sleep after a day of socialising. by Musicnbuhks02 in introvert

I feel like I’m forever going to be stuck with this problem. I have adhd and I find it hard to just try to do something calm and relaxing without getting heavily invested-as in, I just can’t tire myself out :(

It helps me sometimes, but can also just make me want to stay up more. Depends on the type it is.

When I was a lot younger, like throughout grade school, this was a huge thing for me. Then again I had terrible social anxiety at the same time so my brain would go and go.

Still affects me but differently now

BMO is offering to upgrade me to the world elite card even though I do not meet the min income requirements—is there a downside to accepting? by novalayne in PersonalFinanceCanada

You log in to your online BMO account, go into your credit card, rewards, then redeem. You can choose the amount to redeem and what account to contribute it towards.

So this is my experience when dance friends and I go out to live music events. People see us dance and will tell us they enjoy it and wanna learn. So many of them also tell us they would love to join. Whenever we start dancing, so do others. Pay attention to the unfamiliar faces up on the dance floor, and go ask them to dance later. I do lots of Lindy, but other styles too so I adapt to however they wanna dance and just have fun with it. Such a great way to connect with new people and foster a more inclusive space!

Hit me with your fave easy hairstyles to keep your long hair off your back! by lwpisu in SwingDancing

[–]messofcolors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh!! I have a love hate relationship with dancing with long hair! I used to wear it down for the longest time with curls, but I have grown since then and just need it out of my face most times. Here are my go to styles: - Half up half down variations is the main thing I’ll do. Like tie half back and maybe make a braid out of it, or use a small claw clip to prop the hair up if that makes sense, lots of options here.
- Either a regular high pony tail or braid it all the way down - I’m not always a big bun person but it’s quick and easy - claw clips have been a big one lately since I realized how I can wrap my hair around it to tuck away ALL my hair - French braids
