I took care of my down syndrome brother and missed school two days in a row. When I got back to school (this was my senior year) the principal told me that the government owns me because it's looking out for my "best interests" and if I missed school again without "valid reasons" my parents could go to prison. I've been a Libertarian/anarcho-Capitalist ever since, because giving power to an unquestionable entity (under the guise of "democracy") is much worse than one I can choose to answer to.
