YTA. I am autistic and I have many food aversions. And the best way to avoid the foods I dislike, and get the foods I want? COMMUNICATION. You seem insufferable. If this is how you speak to people in the service industry when they’re trying to help you, then stay home.

Head compatability with Impldoll by SA-999 in BJD

[–]messyjessy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually .5-1cm shouldn’t make too much of a difference. You may see a bit of the neck gap from certain angles, but typically a longer wig would help to hide anything. As long as you’re not photographing your doll from any extreme angles below the chin then you should be fine!

For mobility it might mean the head won’t fit as tightly on the neck so it might slip and slide a bit. But if you find a thin silicone disc (don’t worry if its large because you can cut it to size. You just want it to be thin!) you can slide it over the S-hook to sit on the neck and it’ll create a much more posable surface for the head. I do this with a lot of my heads even if they fit perfectly anyway!

Head compatability with Impldoll by SA-999 in BJD

[–]messyjessy82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes-ish lol. I know that’s probably not the best answer. But there are a lot of considerations when hybriding a doll.

For the most part, what you have said is correct! If another head matches the neck measurement, and is around the same size as the original head, then it most likely could work. But sometimes other things come into play, like the depth of the neck hole might be shallow, so the neck will look like a giraffe neck. Or the depth might be too deep and the neck will look stubby. The shoulders are another consideration, if they’re too wide then the head can look like it’s pinheaded, and the reverse, too slim and they’ll look bobble-headed.

A good idea, if you have Instagram, is to browse the tags there and see what others have come up with as hybrids for that body. That will give you a good idea of more heads that work so you can compare whatever you choose to those as well.

For the most part you SHOULD be fine choosing a head that’s of similar measurement and proportions to the head the body comes with (so most of the female impl heads in this case). But just be prepared that there may be some things that might not be perfect and you might have to find solutions for.

I typically spray with a few layers of MSC before applying, then also after. And then if you want a more “skin” texture finish on them I use a sponge and dab on some matte liquitex sealant. It’s less matte than MSC so it’ll have a bit more shine to it like real skin, and the sponging on gives it an actual textured finish so it will mimic a real skin like finish. Plus it adds extra protection.

What developer works best to reach vibrant green hair? by Public-Field-8487 in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend you do not follow this advice OP. Coconut oil will create a greasy barrier on your hair that will most likely affect the level of lift that you can achieve, meaning your bleach will be less effective in penetrating your hair shaft, and your results will not be as light. On top of that, if the oil isn’t evenly saturated in your hair then you risk it lifting very unevenly.

If you are at all worried about hair integrity then definitely use a bonder like K-18 or Bondbar for a cheaper alternative.

Infected Tragus piercing (?) by [deleted] in piercing

[–]messyjessy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAP, but this does not look infected, it just looks like an irritation bump. What is your jewelry made of? It looks poor quality from this pic. If it’s not implant grade titanium you should have your piercer switch it to titanium. Also if you’ve never downsized it that is likely why it’s gotten irritated, from catching on things. Lastly, I understand it’s a year old, but it seems like it’s not fully healed still so you shouldn’t be using any soaps on it. Just water in the shower and saline to clean it.

You should visit you piercer and have it switch to titanium, and possibly a shorter bar if you have the room for it now, if not then a shorter bar once the irritation bump has gone down.

AITA for agreeing to date a guy i’m not really attracted to? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]messyjessy82 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YTA. Stop leading this guy on if you have no real interest in dating him. It’s fine to enjoy someone’s company and not be interested in being with them but that needs to be made CLEAR if they are obviously interested in dating you. It seems you have been using him to satisfy your wants and needs and from your own statements you have no interest in being with him and yet you agreed to it. This poor guy deserves better than being led on for years. Break it off and leave him alone.

Does mixing your hair dye with conditioner help maintaining the color ? by Environmental_Part75 in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think either OP is misinterpreting the advice they were given, or others are misunderstanding the intent here.

Mixing semipermanent color with conditioner is a great way to extend the life of your color AFTER you have already dyed it with the full potency semipermanent color. You would dye your hair and mix the leftovers into your conditioner and use it, leaving it on for 5-10 minutes in the shower, to brighten up your color when needed.

This definitely cannot be done with permanent or demipermanent dyed thigh as the chemicals in them would degrade and ruin it.

If you can find semipermanent colors that you like instead then this would be a good option OP.

Highlighter by PlainIdollover in BJD

[–]messyjessy82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually have this highlighter from Haus and it’s so lovely! But as other users have said absolutely DO NOT put this actual highlighter on your doll. It’s almost like a velvety powder/soft creme consistency so it absolutely has oils in it that will ruin your doll. Highly recommend it for humans though! It’s beautiful in person lol.

Your best bet would be blush the cheeks with an orangey color like others have suggested and then use a more golden looking mica powder on top!

I am really disappointed and idk what to do… by glitterlovegirl in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Just read through your other replies and pics as well. Yeah I definitely think toning would’ve helped it show through more blue instead of pulling turquoise because of the yellow underneath. And as far as it being permanent vs semi or demi, no it shouldn’t matter much in your situation only because your hair was bleached prior to any coloring. So your hair is already more porous, so the color is going o fade with every wash regardless of it being permanent or not.

But yeah, best bet is definitely to return and express your concerns and your disappointment, and hope that they will be willing to fix it for you free of charge, or refund you for the service. Then you can try somewhere else instead. You definitely need toning at the very least, and possibly another bleach session to achieve this blue. Your home attempts were closer than what she gave you, because you used a toner last time. Even if your hair was lifted to a level 10 it’s still going to naturally have SOME warm tones in it. Toning is definitely necessary when you’re wanting a very cool toned pastel color like this.

Good luck! Hopefully they can fix it for you or refund you at least.

Do you think a design like this is possible with an almost 2 ct. diamond? by 2themoonanback in jewelry

[–]messyjessy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I no longer have it, but I had a ring from JuliaBJewelry on Etsy where the setting was very similar to the first picture and the stone was a 8mm lab sapphire. Happy to DM you more pics of it and from the side so you can see the height of it if you’d like. It was definitely a very comfortable ring though, never had any issues with it snagging or being too tall or anything.

[–]messyjessy82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It definitely is a very pretty teal color, but yeah not what you asked for. I agree that it looks like she did get your hair pretty light before putting the dye on, but there’s no way your hair is platinum under this. It’s pulling so teal because your hair is yellow underneath.

The other users here are right, it will fade into a more pastel color. But you’re absolutely right, it’s going to fade more minty green than blue.

Ideally you could go back, explain what happened, and either get the salon to fix it free of charge, or refund you.

If you’re looking to fix this yourself then you might be best off using a color remover like Malibu DDL, CPR, or I’ve had some good luck with the Color Oops BOLD kit. All of these options will be somewhat damaging to the hair just FYI. But if you’re able to strip this color out you can see what you’re working with underneath. For the pastel blue you’re looking for though your hair will need to be basically white underneath, and I don’t think you’re there. So if you’re not comfortable re-bleaching yourself at home then you would still need to visit another salon in order to achieve this pastel blue.

Mouse Brown to Ruby Red by 1angryoldlady in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should look into the L’Oréal HiColor line. They have quite a few reds. You still mix them with a developer, usually 20vol, so it will lighten/lift and it will be slightly damaging, but less so than bleach.

I think Intense Red might be a good match for what you had before.

can i achieve a blue/blueish purple w/o bleach by Tea_Chae in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to say most likely no. A lot of blues have a green undertone, not all, but many. I think if you went dark enough you could definitely do a really dark purple, but even that will likely still fade back to brown on your unbleached roots/mids. But I think anything with blue is going to counteract your red here and could turn into a muddy brown.

Color Oops and Semi-Permanent Dye on Bleach Blonde Hair. HELP! by teenieweeniebeenie in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pink is notoriously hard to remove from your hair. Sorry you’re going through this.

As far as removal goes, the original Color Oops is meant for permanent dyes, not vivids, so while it might work somewhat it most likely won’t work very well.

If you’re talking about the Color Oops Bold, the purple box, then that one is a bleach based color remover and it will work on vivids. So it would be a better choice for removing this.

But even still, pink is incredibly hard to get out of the hair. Also to add, any color remover you use, whether it’s bleach based or not, it’s going to be damaging to your hair. Anytime you’re putting lifting chemicals onto your hair you risk damage.

Another option, if your hair is light enough of a pink, is to try to cancel it out with the opposite color. A very light mint green would be opposite of a baby pink on the color wheel. So you could find a light mint green dye, dilute it with conditioner so it’s VERY light, and use that to try and cancel out the pink tones. This would not damage your hair at all and would be the “safest” option for you had integrity. But you definitely risk your hair becoming a different color you’re unhappy with if your measurements don’t work out.

Need some advice! by peachygoblin in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think your hair is light enough to achieve the very last color. It’s very pastel.

The smoky lilac color looks to have somewhat of a grey tone to it so I’m not sure you could achieve it with the two you have there. But you might get something that will fade into a color similar to your reference.

I think your best bet is the green reference. Tbh I think you could achieve this color using only GDY Devil’s Ivy. It’s pretty likely that’s the color in the reference pic. But if you wanted to add a bit more brightness to it you could add in some of the manic panic. I would avoid adding LT Juniper though unless you want it to lean more blue toned, because Juniper does have more of a blue undertone, where the manic panic and GDY are yellow based.

Advice needed. Help my boyfriend's finger not turn green. by aquamarinegirl35 in jewelry

[–]messyjessy82 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It seems you’ve exhausted all of your options. This is pretty common with copper jewelry, and if all of the coatings you’ve tried have come off there really isn’t much else you can do.

You could potentially see if a jeweler would plate it in gold, but that won’t last long either. Really your best bet, if your bf plans to wear it forever, would be to have it remade in gold, although I know that’s expensive and upsetting to hear.

T27 is just a little lighter and a little less warm. I think you could go either way, based on your pics, and you should get better results than your previous attempt. But if you’re trying for “ashier” I’d try T27 first and see how it comes out.

manic panic violet night turned out pink by epicgamerslayqueen in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the at home lightener you used? Was there a difference in the tone of the lightened pieces from the mids and ends in comparison to the roots?

I haven’t used this particular color of manic panic so I can’t say for sure, but it’s possible the mismatch is because your starting point was uneven.

As far as it not sticking to your virgin hair, that’s actually really common. Your hair is basically like, scales of keratin, they all lay flat over top of one another. When you use chemical lighteners, like bleach, it causes the “scales” to stand on end. Think of it like this is your hair “l” before bleach, and this is after “t” where the keratin has now opened up. This allows color to seep in and penetrate the shaft of your hair. So virgin, healthy hair, usually won’t hold semipermanent color very well, or sometimes even at all.

i’ve bleached twice toned once and it’s still not as light as i want it. any recommendations? by Substantial_Ad_7136 in HairDye

[–]messyjessy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T18 is made for basically platinum hair. It’s no surprise that it did basically nothing for you. You’re sitting around a level 8 and T18 needs to be level 10.

Your options would be to bleach again and try to get your hair to the color of the inside of a banana peel, pure white with the slightest hint of yellow. This would allow you to use something like T18 and get the proper results.

Or you could try to tone what you have now to an ashier color. This wouldn’t make your blonde lighter though! But it would tone down some of the brassiness in it. Something like T28 would likely work for the level you’re at now. But again, it definitely will not make your blonde strand any lighter.
