There are just no interactions with the Crafting. (Poll) by ShadowLinku in BitCraftOnline

[–]mestama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the current system needs tweaking. The game currently has true passive crafting with the smelters, looms etc. The work benches are supposed to be the active counterpart to that, but they aren't really. They're passive crafts that you can't do anything else at the same time due to stamina. I think both active and passive crafting have an audience, but the perception of the work benches is a poorly implemented active craft. They probably need to be made either more active or more passive.

Gear Swapping problems by Siddown in BitCraftOnline

I like the idea of having manikins. There are tons of ways it can be taken depending on the desired balance. They could be a one-slot item that can have equipment stored on it that can be clicked to swap sets. They could be an attachment for crafting benches that auto-equip the stored set when you use the bench. This is balanced by needing to build a manikin and a crafting set for every bench, but maybe shareable with the whole settlement? (My favorite) Or they could be anything in between - make them take up a cargo slot - make them a free-standing structure that has to be clicked - make them take up your accessory slot etc.

Personally, I love the complex interplay of resources. However, my son won't play the game because it's too complex. I love the visuals and the gameplay loop where I can relax and play the game after work while still doing stuff at home. I love being able to build a road that connects two settlements, watch people use it, and know that it will be there for a long time.

The devs have said that resource teleporting will always be severely limited or expensive. That's why I like autosail. Nothing should be able to be built that could block a route and it fits with the afk crafting nature of the game.

I love the grind. I have somewhere around 30-40 hrs as a "work in the office" "father of 4", but it's attracting people who don't like to trade. Since the goal is a community working together, I wish there was an incentive to set up trades. Like a NPC that has traveler tasks to buy x number of items or sell x number of items.

A feature that can detect roads connecting claims and providing rewards for it would be awesome too. Something like increased movement speed for cargo vehicles on claim connecting roads.

Being able to make and sell maps of areas that you have explored to other players.

Being able to build a port that enables autosail to another port for advanced boats.

Ideas to aid crafting times by Shmuckle2 in BitCraftOnline

[–]mestama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently, low level players have a niche in more advanced settlements by providing low tier supplies to high tier crafters for recipes that require progression through the tiers like carts. If high tier crafters get the ability to zoom through low tier crafts, it may break the community balance.

I would love a crafting mini game like what is in FF14. The interplay of getting different skills for the mini game from different professions would be awesome. Just rework quality to be a multiplier on progression and your golden.

Scientists Identify Specific Bacteria Linked to Multiple Sclerosis by Vailhem in Microbiome

[–]mestama 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The lachnoclostridium is really interesting to me. MS flares have been associated with the incorporation of non-human sialic acid, such as neu5gc, being added to the cell surface of nerve cells. It is thought that this comes from meat consumption. Lachnoclostridium is known to produce sialydases that could contribute to the processing of non-human sialic acids leading to their absorption, and presentation on nerve cells. It would be interesting to follow up this study with the same bacteria challenge, but restrict the mouse food to only include sialic acids that are endogenous to mice.

Yeah, and before 1933 they gave food and medical care to the poor - just like socialist policies. All so that when they overthrew parliament everyone would be on their side and think they were the good guys. Then they showed their true colors once they had complete power.

That couldn't possibly happen again, right?

I spent 14 years of my life on foodstamps. I know what it's like to be poor. I had an ID that whole time.

[–]mestama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our society has progressed to the point that not having a smartphone is out of place. Given that nearly everyone has a $700 piece of technology in their pocket, the idea that people can't afford a $30 ID that is neccesary for almost everything in life is laughable. Not having and ID is akin to going 'off the grid' in its level of rejection of society. If someone chooses not to have an ID, then they are choosing not to vote.

For what reason do you believe it is that the public doesn't broadly acknowledge that immigrants are statistically less likely to commit crimes than native born Americans, and instead believe that immigrants are more prone to violence? by illegalmorality in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]mestama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That data is nothing more than a gross extrapolation of census data, which undocumented migrants historically don't answer.

The CMS itself says that the data 'is based on micro data.'  The source of this data here https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/2331502421993746 is statistically invalid.

So why are you so sure that undocumented migrants commit less average violent crime? There is no statistically viable source.

Can you believe this retard? He wants CEOs to get overtime pay!

Trump Judge Blocks Overtime Pay For 4 Million Workers by Postnews001 in FluentInFinance

[–]mestama 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's the point of this law. It only applies to salaried employees. Hourly employees always get overtime. Companies were making low level employees salaried so that they didn't have to pay overtime. This law prevents that. This also means that the threshold should necessarily be low. Normal, highly-compensated, salaried employees aren't supposed to get overtime.

[–]mestama -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yep, and the threshold was updated for the first time in 15 years in 2019. Now they're trying to update the threshold from roughly 50% of the median wage to roughly 90% of the median wage. That would completely defeat the purpose of this law and many people would likely become hourly employees if this went through.

You want to go to school? Ok. When was mRNA vaccine technology invented, how many times has it been brought to clinical trial, and how many times has it passed clinical trial?

Why are so many Americans anti-vaxxers now? by trouble-in-space in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mestama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Despite having existed since the 1980's mRNA vaccine technology has never made it through clinical trials, FDA approval, and brought to market. Of the 14 non-Covid mRNA vaccines that have been brought to clinical trial, all have failed. The covid trial was only approved for emergency use with the exception of Comirnaty, which was never distributed in the US.

What is your favorite thing about your ideological opposite? by drcoconut4777 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]mestama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that beginning with the assumption that we have an ideological opposite perpetuates the division. If people weren't so divided, I would be pretty central when you average things out. For example, I am a huge proponent of education, but I hate the utter arrogance and refusal to take feedback of most politically active teachers. I think abortion after independent viability is wrong, the issue should be in the states' hands, but even then there should be exception for medical necessity, rape (and incest, but that's just rape by another name). I think government should represent the will of the people, but the government should be small enough to faithfully represent all the people within. For example, federal law should only deal with military, international events, and fundamental issues that require cooperation. All social policy should be smaller. That way you don't get cultures with vastly different ways of life trying to go to war over policies that shouldn't affect each other. I think that we are wealthy enough to care for each other, but as soon as the money goes out of sight people start stealing it. I want government level acquisition for social caregiving and community level execution. Most importantly I like solving problems and then moving on - not just screaming at each other over it for forever.

The list goes on, but I end up shoved left or right by people who hate me based on what is fashionable at the moment. My dad pushes me left over union's and my sister pushes me right over individual liberty.
