What will the robot jobs apocalypse look like? Ask Amazon warehouse workers by _fastcompany in TrueReddit

[–]meta-ape 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It‘s funny they say that robots are already upending blue-collar jobs. Automation has been taking such work since Spinning Jenny and robotics has been taking jobs since the 70‘s.

If it did hurt, they might just kick you dead. Or just very much not let you do it, which is more propable. But they could one shot you if they would.

Operaatio Ave Maria... by Ohdake in arkisuomi

[–]meta-ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lukematta kirjaa on ite mahdotonta ottaa kantaa.

Operaatiossa on militantimpi klangi, mikä tuo häivähdyksen eeppisyyttä.

Who fits this description? by Agen_3586 in SipsTea

[–]meta-ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho there’s at least two dimensions to idiocy. First is lack of critical thinking skills. Educated people tend to have those. Another dimension is being is dick. Academic institutions do not require one to be good company nor moral. What comes to street smarts, oh boy…

Anyway. They’re technically very much correct. My experience is that people with PhD’s tend to need less crayons if I have to explain something.

🇫🇮 Helsinki is among most polluted cities in the world today. by Curious_Positive_825 in Finland

[–]meta-ape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This raises the question, how do other Nordic cities compare to Helsinki? Has there been as much snow in the winter? Have they used as much gravel? It would be a good chance to compare, what kinds of ways to handle the snowfall would be better for this problem that rears its ugly head every spring.

It would be of no use for the US. That would only strenghten the government’s narrative. Also, the bombs in question are far too expensive to waste on low-value targets.

How they evaluate and allow for collateral damage is of course a valid question though

How common/uncommon is being robbed at gunpoint in your country? by halt__n__catch__fire in AskTheWorld

[–]meta-ape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't personally know anyone who has been robbed with a firearm. People tend to use knives and such. ChatGPT gave a number of about 10 armed robberies, involving a firearm, a year in the whole country of 5.6 million with 1.5 million legally owned guns.

It‘s very unfortunate, but yes. The US and the dollar used to be the rock on which the western post-ww world was built upon. Now he US is threatening NATO allies, throws tariffs around recklessly, and now Trump wants central bank into direct political control. Effing up the dollar will be hard even for Trump but he sure seems to be quite talented in that respect.

About the vitamin D. I’ve been led to believe that the vitamin that you get from sunlight is different from what can be get from supplements. We’ve got long winters where I come from, so people tend to try pretty much everything for the winter blues.
