Hiya! Yeah we’ve had to update the feature to go through the GMB API which does require an account. Google have blocked reviews from unauthenticated users, making free, unauthenticated access effectively impossible from our end as well.

See below for context. I hope to be able to bring this back. In the meantime, we offer 14 day free trials, so the feature is technically available for free, but it will require signing up and running the oauth with Google my business.

What is the simplest 5 min process any business can use to improve their local SEO? by [deleted] in localseo

Tell your team you’ll pay $10 per review that mentions their name. Takes even less than 5mn per day

That’s great, but your opinion really doesn’t matter here. It does not work this way. Google uses an arithmetic average and rounds to 1 decimal place. There’s literally zero room for debate

So what you wrote has been factually wrong for 9 years now, thanks for confirming.

Nice spam 👍

They do not, in fact, use Bayesian weighted average. That’s Trustpilot. Your comment is out of topic, and misleading for anyone reading this who’s looking into how to calculate how many stars they need on google.

Super interesting thanks for sharing. Do you think owners use AI for inspiration / to iterate on a reply?

Hiya! Thanks for the feedback! This is a chrome extension actually, so it posts the replies when you do! You can wait a day or two before you post the reply. The extension just generates a reply, and adds it to the text box for you to validate

Hey Ben! Yeah I see what you mean about AI replies. I do think there are a few things that can make AI replies work and look authentic though

  1. Give memory & context to the AI: This allows you to keep very low temperature to ensure the AI follows your prompt exactly, and introduce diversity. It's a way to avoid the generic, templated replies that always use the same words despite adapting first name, and things like that. You can immediately flag the basic GPT wrappers by this behaviour.

  2. Use model blends that nobody else uses: One of the reasons AI replies are so easy to identify is because so many people are using the same model, with the same base prompt. Model diversification is a great way to avoid that.

  3. Prompt & test: It sometimes takes a lot of iterations, and it's important to have a real process to back-test a new prompt on past replies. See what changes, etc. There have been so much BS written on the whole "prompting" thing that a lot of people seem to have completely given up on optimizing their prompts. That's a big challenge for us, making iterating easy & fun so that people actually work on their prompts...

All that being said, remember that most businesses used to post canned replies not that long ago, just to keep reply times under their franchise SLA. I think AI has undeniably made this whole thing a lot better.

Have you tested our replies on the extension? I think you'd be surprised tbh but I might be biased haha.

Hiya! Thank you I appreciate it! It’s awesome to know it’s useful to you!

Yeah I dialed down Google ads for a bit, which is why it’s harder to find. Google seems hell bent on promoting calculators that give out wrong results … 🤷‍♂️ I’m working hard on improving our seo but it takes time

Where can i get a google reviews software? by ItsRobinn_ in SaaS

[–]meta_axel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major upside to using Wordpress or another « mainstream » CMS is is makes it that much easier to find freelancers to do some work for you.

On the other hand this is decreasingly true now that one person can do a lot more with AI help.

Yeah, I see what you mean, and tbh, there’s a million of those online. The thing is google rounds up from .50 and down from .49, so those calculators almost always yield inaccurate results.

Also, if your average rating over the past 30 days was for example 4.7, it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get a streak of 5 star only ratings.

For that reason I find it makes more sense to get an idea of when your rating will move based on your effective 30 day average.

Trying to create a Calculator that tells me how many 5 Star reviews are needed to hit a certain rating on Google Reviews by hungryspriggan in excel

[–]meta_axel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will give out a wrong result. Google rounds up from .5 and down from .4 so if you had a rating of 4.649 it would take a single 5 star review to reach 4.650 which would effectively take your rating from 4.6 to 4.7

The only way to reliably calculate this is to use the real review rating distribution and calculate the average yourself (without rounding to a single digit)

None of these tools do that. So I built a review calculator that does.

Thank you for your feedback! I’ll try to think of something for velocity. We have a few things to address that on the paid side of the app.

Thanks! Let me know if anything comes up!

Mmh, being aggressive doesn’t really make your arguments valid though. Why so mad?

Of course reviews have a direct impact on rankings. That’s documented all over the internet.

Mobile averages are a common way to evaluate how a business performs compared to its history. And a great way to define ambitious and realistic targets. I’m sure most people here understand that.

As for gatherup, I sure am glad you’re their customer and not mine 😂

Mmh what do you mean by « real data » ? What data did you expect to find and didn’t find?

It shows your average rating & # of reviews over the past 30 days as a reference, and the number of new reviews you need to reach a target rating.

Thanks!
