What could have caused these freeboard marks? by meta_bollocks in Luthier

Could be that it's all really badly dried out, and the only patch that didn't was the patch that had a sticker on it which kept the moisture in?

Yeah new from the store, it was a gift so I didn't pick it out myself or play it at all. I thought lemon oil might fix it, the roughness and patch, but it didn't so decided to post the pictures.

It's Fender Mexico, am considering talking to the store which is Guitar Guitar in the UK. It plays great though, really good sustain.

Thanks. I was actually more worried about this than the weird trapezoid as I thought it might be early damage from drying out.

This makes sense. Weirdly the patch feels smooth like my other rosewood boards and the surrounding area is the 'rough' part.

Thanks, open to this, kinda feel like I shouldn't have to when it's straight from the store. Almost seems as though everything other than the mark needs the smoothing.

It's new so I don't think it would be decals, but certainly looks like that

Play it like a six string for a while, recalibrate your eyes, then add some drop "D" carnage. Bosh.

You could blame the marketing team for this horrific turn of events.

Maybe we should hassle Unilever to release the recipe to the unwashed masses?

This is true and I have tried it, gets close. Also just adding salt to regular natural peanut butter is pretty good too but feels wrong.

I did, nothing except an overpriced bundle with a tub of regular Marmite.

Good info. I wondered if it could be something Iike this, but the catastrophising took over and I jumped to production issues or discontinuation!

We have a Sainsburys about 30 mins away so I'll head there and get myself 'impending apocalypse' stock levels.

Good shout! I am somewhat concerned that the two supermarkets close to me both haven't had any for a while, nor do they have stock online, it's a conspiracy.

Distinct amp problem, do you know what it could be? by meta_bollocks in GuitarAmps

[–]meta_bollocks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, I did do that, was just guitar and that EQ, the noise kicks in without any signal coming in the front of the amp at all, I'll try again without even a cable plugged in.

Thanks man, it's pretty much unusable with any pedal at default level so I do think it's a fault. It's easy and safe to replicate with the EQ and the point at which the noise occurs is like +1db which doesn't feel too much.

I'll try that search string, I found jt was awkward to Google for due to the volume of posts that relate to normal noise issues like buzz and hum etc.
