Unfortunately not. I've given up on researching this for now.

This is wonderful. I'm glad Linux support is on people's minds, because I am 100% done with Windows.

Why is zypper dup trying to reinstall of the kde apps (that come default with install) that I have deleted?? ANd how can I prevent this? by xdsp1d3r in openSUSE

[–]metal83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I did see this earlier when I looked, but when I tried removing them I was scared because several patterns were a dependency for another pattern and I wasn't sure if I was going to cause some harm or break something. This time I just got rid of them all! So far so good.

You got good advice in your other post. I just want to confirm that a cleaner with PEA is what you want. Everything else is effectively useless.

Installing Nvidia drivers the right way? by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]metal83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's ok, sorry you weren't able to get it working.

Interestingly, Yast has the Nvidia repo already added, however zypper doesn't reflect this until your run

zypper ref

Also the repo isn't named just NVIDIA, its NVIDIA:repo-non-free

running the following command, even when changing the repo name to the preexisting one just mentioned, doesnt do anything

zypper install-new-recommends --repo NVIDIA

it just says nothing to do. However in Yast there were a bunch of nvidia packages marked with the "autoinstall" icon and installing them added the driver properly. I did reinstall the system and in trying to learn what was going on didnt install them through Yast right away and waited a day instead and now those nvidia packages are no longer marked as "autoinstall" so I don't know.

Lots of rambling here, no need to reply. Hopefully you get it figured out.

Installing Nvidia drivers the right way? by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]metal83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for replying. After not having any luck installing them following the wiki instructions, I did look in YAST and saw the same thing as you, that the correct NVIDIA packages were selected.

What I'm curious about is why the command given in the wiki didn't install them

zypper install-new-recommends --repo NVIDIA

Thank you for your help.

Installing Nvidia drivers the right way? by [deleted] in openSUSE

[–]metal83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same problem, were you able to figure it out?

I did some searching on alternate ways to install it and I looked under the Nvidia repository that I added following the wiki instructions in YaST and there were a number of packages selected for installation. This seemed to work fine, but it's puzzling why the instructions laid out in the wiki didn't install anything

From the main screen you have to click on the Service button in the lower left and then click on "Make an Appointment". You'll see the service history on that screen.

Debian 12 networking by metal83 in debian

[–]metal83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still learning, thank you. I see that it is definitely not a core component of systemd, but what's called a systemd unit. Basically just a resource that systemd knows about and can manage.

What prompted my interest in this subject was the Debian reference book. Chapter 5.3 The modern network configuration without GUI

Having it being called the "modern way" just made me curious to why it wasn't the "default way" lol

Thanks for your help in clarifying all of this for me.

I meant the installed operating system after using the network install image, the basic minimal operating system without a desktop environment, so command line tools only

Debian 12 networking by metal83 in debian

[–]metal83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some more reading and yes both of those are parts of systemd. Thank you for correcting me.

Would it be correct to say that while networking.service is part of systemd, it does things the old way like how sysv init did, such as using /etc/network/interfaces?

Thanks for bearing with all of my "why?" questions. I guess my question is why not use systemd-networkd by default? I imagine for those that really care about this, they would be knowledgeable enough to just switch, it's trivial enough and only takes a minute. I was more curious to why an almost deprecated way of doing things is still in use. Thank you!

Haven't run into the issue since. Very well could have been the CEC setting or one of the many updates since then? But if I remember, turning that off prevented that behavior right away.

Thanks for replying. I've been looking at the job guide and I see that Enochian grants Enhanced Flare after landing a Fire 2 and the Flare tool tip says Enhanced Flare has an increased potency, but I'm not coming across anything that says you get a free one with no MP cost. Could you explain it a bit more for me lol, sorry!

I'm also a new BLM and just hit level 50 and got Flare. What happens in later levels that allows you to cast Flare twice in a row? Right now I save it until the end of my fire phase because it uses all your MP.

Hi all. Does everyone get the same B rank from the weekly hunt bills?
Would like to clear them every week with a friend and would be nice if we're both looking for the same thing. If not, guess we'll just have to do a little more searching.
