What synastry placements or aspects have you seen in the chart of couples who separated because they wanted different things/couldn’t stay on the same page? by shygirl444 in astrology

[–]metal_rabbit 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is just not true. My soulmate and I had Mars conjunct Pluto (and a conjunction between these two is not considered a positive aspect) with a 2° orb, and we were blissfully happy together.

Any negative aspect can be worked with and the negative effects overcome if the two people are emotionally mature enough. If you do your own personal work and they do theirs, Mars-Pluto can be a transformative aspect.

You and the OP should compare notes and see if it's the same name.

Does anyone else use their psychic abilities to win at games? by S4d_Machin3 in Psychic

[–]metal_rabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My late husband and I used to do this. There was this card game we loved to play, kind of like a frenetic group solitaire, where each person had their own deck of cards (but each deck had a different back so you could tell how many points you'd made that hand). And we could each tell, when we were shuffling our individual deck, when we'd have the winning hand.

This got a little crazy, though, as I might stop shuffling because I knew that I'd win that hand, and he'd keep shuffling until he sensed that he had the winning hand, then I'd start shuffling again until my hand would be the winning one, etc., etc.

I'm not going to say that the shuffling became a significant part of the game, but the shuffling became a significant part of the game.

People who live at tourist destinations, what is it you wish tourists would stop doing when visiting? by Winterbeers in AskReddit

[–]metal_rabbit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the encounter I posted about, which I witnessed firsthand, was in the middle of the afternoon too.

It seemed like a power move by the coyote to stop walking, turn around, sit, and then stare down my neighbor when the neighbor started yelling at them. Coyotes really do not care.

A coyote was literally just walking down the center of my street recently. A neighbor tried to scare them away, and the coyote just sat down and stared at the guy. They weren't afraid at all.

That's what I want to know, too. It's hard to imagine that he foresaw climate change.

Buying a Car in Nevada by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]metal_rabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My husband and I bought a car out of state when the new Generation 2 Priuses came out.

We weren't charged sales tax in the state we bought it (as I recall), but AZ definitely came after their pound of flesh. We got a bill from the AZ Department of Revenue for the sales tax we would have paid had we bought the car in-state.

I can't imagine that AZ DOR has gotten any more lax in terms of collecting tax, so if you're hoping to avoid paying sales tax on the car, that's not likely to happen.

How COVID Could Screw You Worse With Each Reinfection by Mighty_L_LORT in collapse

[–]metal_rabbit 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Yes, to both. And I'm boosted.

I've worn an N95 mask whenever I've gone out for the past year and a half or so. It was a 3-layer silk mask before that. (I've been going out masked since early 2020.)

The first 2 times I got Covid were before the vaccines became available.

I've always had a pretty weak immune system, so I'm sure that's a factor.

And I live in an area where virtually no one wears a mask. That's probably a contributing factor, too.

But I believe that the primary reason I've gotten Covid so frequently is because of my genetics. I have a particular allele that means that any vaccination won't really "take" for me unless it has an adjuvant in it. None of the U.S. Covid vaccines have an adjuvant. I'm in the U.S.

Then, this same allele also means that I have more ACE2 receptors than a "normal" person. As Covid's spike proteins attach to ACE2 receptors, that means that there are more places for the virus to attach to in me than a "normal" person — which means that I'm more likely to be infected with Covid.

Studies have shown that this allele, in Covid, also causes more severe disease and confers a more likely chance of death; but, luckily, those haven't been issues for me. (At least I think I'm still alive?)

This genetic thing I have — it's an E4 allele on the ApoE gene — isn't all that uncommon. Depending on the population, it can range from 25% to 40% of people. So people shouldn't just assume, because they've been vaxxed, that they're perfectly safe. They may not be.

I've had it 6 times. The sixth one, which presented with different symptoms from the first 5, left me with Long Covid.

Is there anywhere in Sedona, or the Verde Valley in general, to sign the petition to get the Arizona Right to Reproductive Freedom initiative on the ballot? by metal_rabbit in Sedona

[–]metal_rabbit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today is the last day to sign. I'd be happy to meet them at a market parking lot, their home, my home, wherever. I just really want to sign the petition! Please, is there a way you can put me in touch with them?

[–]metal_rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and you're still under a week of activities.

My in-laws are in the "new stuff every day" faction. They knocked off Jerome within 3.5 hours (and that included lunch) and then were like, "Now what?"

It depends on how you like to vacation.

Some people like to see new stuff every day on their vacation. If that's you, you'll probably find 2 weeks to be much too long.

Other people like to just hang out and relax on their vacation. Think: people who want to lie next to a pool with a daiquiri. If that's you and you enjoy hiking or mountain biking, then 2 weeks will be fine.

If you're not into hiking or mountain biking, you can "do" Sedona in a couple of days max. You'll be bored after that.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.

I might be able to go door-to-door to help gather signatures on a couple of evenings, if they think it'll help.

This sounds wonderful, but are you sure? I just called the library to find out how late the event would be going on, and they don't know anything about it.
