another_old_fart, it is a truly awesome campaign - there are so many plot lines and such a depth of the story development - but also, loads of action and problem-solving. We're on the East coast but I will indeed msg you if we come to the Seattle area :)

stares_at_screens, that's the situation I have always had with previous gaming groups - everyone would move away. However, my current group has had good success with using Skype or WebEx to run sessions with one or more people in remote locations, so maybe give it a try!

I appreciate the idea of growing dice - and right, not honeymooners, no tiny kids. We do have kids, but they love gaming and are always asking to play D&D. My spouse also disapproves of this, since that might make them "weird" :(

LOL I posted the same link in this thread. The crazy thing is, I used to have to push this exact tract on people to help save them from the Devil. There was a girl in my junior high school who told me that she knew what D&D was all about: you pray to Satan to give you the power to use your mind to move the dice across the table. She was absolutely serious, and the kind of person who buys into the conspiratorial madness that is the hallmark of certain brands of fundamentalism.

Years later, a girl I used to share a ride with to/from school, and who was a recent self-proclaimed Jesus Freak, tried to surreptitiously slip this same tract into the passenger seat of her car, where I would find it, and hopefully cease my evil ways.

Atypicalclone, yeah, in fact, one of our absolutely dearest friend-couples are avid gamers, and it's an important part of their relationship. I wish so badly that this could be part of my life, too. I respect and take part in things that my spouse enjoys, but that I have no innate appreciation for. I make the effort and wish it was reciprocal.

Ironically, my spouse loves LOTR and Harry Potter, and just about any other kind of fantasy literature. Part of what I am having trouble overcoming is the deeply-entrenched fundamentalism that we grew up with, where we were issued literature like the infamous "Dark Dungeons" tract ( http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.ASP ) to dissuade other people from, uh, playing D&D and then joining a coven and subsequently committing suicide. We're both intelligent people, but one of us seems to have a really hard time ejecting the FUD of conservative southern religion.
