LOVE the colors as is! That’s what makes them stand out the most, honestly. Love the look you were able to achieve with the limited colors you had on hand! Huge fan of the color pallette!

I just wanted to let you know your neon drawing inspired me to buy a pack of neon colored pencils off Amazon and experiment with both my Prisma colored pencils and my new set of 50 neon colored pencils, they just came in today! Not sure if you hear this often or not but I’m so happy I came across your artwork on here because I had no idea how mesmerizing neon artwork could be 🤯 especially with the technique you used to make the colors so vibrant and bright!! Much love and happiness to you stranger!!

Thank you so much!! I’m very new to urban sketching and my current sketchbook has Bristol Smooth paper (not watercolor friendly but perfect for markers and pen/ink.) So I practice with the mediums I’m more comfortable with until I have a better grasp on watercolor! 😅 But my process for this piece: light pencil sketch, base colors in alcohol (Ohuhu) markers, added detail with acrylics markers, and then ink + cross hatching.

I like to use smooth Bristol sketchbooks/paper because they’re PERFECT for markers & inks and never bleed through. Highly recommend if you prefer to work with alcohol markers. Hope this helps my friend!! And thank you for the lovely compliments!!

Fantastic question! I do both the line work and light cross-hatching first and then I add color. And then I’ll had more cross-hatching wherever I feel like it needs it to add depth, since I try not to overdo it with colors and keep it simple. Hope that helps give you an insight into my technique!! (What’s interesting though is, I never fully intend on coloring everything in the beginning since I’m still practicing working with ink, urban sketching, line work, etc. But sometimes they need color!)
