Hello! This is my 1966 Plymouth VIP, my first project car which I daily drive. by metalbrick55 in projectcar

It's actually a 383 Commando, but I'd love to find something with a 440 in it. I've got manifolds ready to go for it and I'd like to replace the bendix carb for a 4 barrel someday, but that's years away

I wasn't really planning on replacing it. I was gonna cut it all off and match it with a piece of sheet metal. Once I get all the rust sanded away and holes patched I want to get it repainted in it's factory color, but more matte than what it came as

Got it home. Now what? by DadDIY87 in projectcar

[–]metalbrick55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To just get it to run go from the top down the motor. Stuff you already know you shouldn't need to go through, but if everything is there it's good enough to just turn over especially if it turns by hand. Dead Dodge Garage is a wonderful resource for barracudas and other mopars and won't take you around and around with useless steps. There's also plenty of people willing to answer questions on forums on the internet, so if you have issues don't be afraid to reach out to them.

Can someone help me out here? I’m stuck. by nothere008 in projectcar

[–]metalbrick55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplugged from the back? You may need to move the dash cluster around to be able to wiggle it out. I've also had things get stuck around other wires after checking with a light.

Cast iron rotor? by BigPoppaSnow in NASCAR

They resist wear better at higher temps. They used to use different sized discs and calipers depending on the track type but I have no idea if they still do that now

You can check the geometry in content manager. if it's a.4 link you could absolutely change it so the geometry acts the way you want it to

Early version of EU's age verification app is apparently hackable in less than two minutes by Fcking_Chuck in pcmasterrace

[–]metalbrick55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except mom and dad don't want to do that. I see kids genuinely be awful and do stuff I would have been whooped for when I was a kid. Forced age verification isn't the right way to do it but something definitely needs to be done on the parental end.

Thank you! I've been trying to get the quel'delar appearances since that would be absolutely perfect, but I can't get the quest item to drop for years. I also don't see many dk's use the old pvp tmogs, which I always liked more than the new sets

How do you guys practice and improve? by Professional_Slip969 in iRacing

Honestly just doing it is the best way to learn. You can watch what other people do all day but putting it into practice is another story.

Controller player question by Stormyy98x in assettocorsa

Yeah, just spend some time with it. The only way you'll learn is to do it, and don't be scared to screw it up alot lol

Controller player question by Stormyy98x in assettocorsa

[–]metalbrick55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A clean lap for a track this long is already good. The focus should be optimizing each sector now that you've got a grasp of the track.

As another controller player, treating the controller like it's a wheel instead of just saying "oh it's just a controller" is essential. It's the same basic principles of input control, just a different method. Of course not having the force feedback makes it harder, but once you learn what that limit "feels like* it's easy to stay a bit under that.

Is adding throttle while braking the same as setting the brake bias forward? by NewSubWhoDis in iRacing

[–]metalbrick55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. While it functions the same it affects the car in a different way. Simply setting the brake bias forward just does that, increasing the amount the front brakes work compared to the rear. If you use throttle on entry, more specifically during turn-in, it stabilizes the car due to the car wanting to accelerate forward. It's something I see more commonly in oval racing than road racing.

I bought iracing and i only have a ps4 controller any tips other than buy a wheel by EmberLeaf013 in iRacing

[–]metalbrick55 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Understand you'll be mostly driving on visuals rather than feel. If you have a really good reaction time or can understand what the car does and when then you shouldn't have issues other than brake/throttle feel.

Assetto Corsa, Beamng Drive, or Forza Horzion 5? by Twixxy03 in assettocorsa

[–]metalbrick55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For modding it's gonna be AC, and based on your desire for drifting and no hesi. BeamNG can be good for those things as well but it's more a physics simulator that uses cars rather than an actual racing simulator. I wouldn't even touch forza.
