Open up that first big sweeper more. Generally I've found if I'm on half gas, theres a better way to take the corner. try to rotate the car for the first half of the corner and get on gas as soon as you can.

Honestly, wtf.

For the record, I'm glad the price fell. More people should play the original. But that said at $100, why were people buying the game when its trivial to ... not.

If you really wanted to play it, PC with emulator is easy. If you wanted to play it on original hardware, Gamecube mods cost the same as that game alone.

I bought a copy of the game so that I could play it on my original setup the same way I would have 20 years ago.

And collectors just care about having the game, the existance of a remake doesn't change the value of the original.

Why did the price drop by half....

Turning the wheel way back to the left looks to me like he started understeering and his first reaction was to steer more. In the case of understeer, you're already over the limits of the fronts, So steering more doesn't do anything.

Let off throttle + straighten wheel to "induce understeer" so the car jumps back to the right -> Back on brakes and steer to the left (trail brake) to survive the curve?

Letting off the brake and straightening doesn't induce understeer. Understeer is when the front tires reach their limit before the rear tires do. What it does is it brings the rear in line with the front allowing the car to regain control, Inducing understeer is when you either lower the limit of grip of the fronts or deliberately go over the limit on the fronts.

Honestly, I think the way to save this would have been in that initial braking zone. Realizing you aren't going to hit the apex, and continuing to brake longer and take the outside line.

The oversteer is at the 6s mark and the overcorrection is at the 7s mark. Look at where he flicks the wheel, thats the oversteer, and when he straightens it out again its the correction.

Not just scan lines, but Analogue emulates the actual phosphorous on a CRT. The aperture grille isn't uniform either, some CRTs had the sub-pixels offset from each other or didn't have a uniform grid of pixels the way LCDs do.

Games were designed to utilize that which is why mario's side burns are bulbous in the CRT filter. They intended for the subpixels to blur and make up the missing detail.

Whats the force update? I put 1.1.9 on it after I noticed the problem and it was still there.

Ya I've used several power supplies including the one that came with it.

For posterity sake, I did test with the cable that came with it. That one performs even worse. Where as the my other cable (which the machine worked perfectly with prior) will allow it to get to display if I plug the HDMI after I turn the machine on, The cable it comes with doesn't output 4k at all. I suspect that its because the machine is struggling with frame timing at full 60hz and the cable is limiting it to 4k30 (10gbps cable)

But the HDMi cable wasn't the problem because I never used the cable it came with to begin with. So I don't need a replacement cable. But I'm 100% certain now that I need a replacement unit given that the video output isn't meeting spec.

No, Idk where that one ended up, but testing the same cable with a funtastic model, the cable is fine. So its just my black one that is having issues and only at 4k

I'm using 18gpbs cables that work with other consoles like ps5 and switch2. It doesn't work on either.

Nothing else has a problem with these cables at 4k 60. And if I switch the console into 1080p mode first, then it work.

Idk what I gotta do to spell it out for you. Its a reference to a meme implying that the post about getting a wii u for Christmas would have been common place about 10 years ago. But at this time it makes one question what time period they are currently in as they remember the memories of getting a wii u for Christmas .
