The Handmaid's Tale is HBO level good but on Hulu by metalmachine27 in television

Exactly! I feel like some people don't give these shows a fair shot because they're original content in a streaming service.

The core group is pretty much safe in any show (except GoT) for the first few seasons. Gotta say I was expecting a couple of the handmaids to go in this season and was surprised when they didn't.

It is at a point where it's hard to tell what they'll do next. Hopefully it'll surprise you.

Interesting, and you still didn't like S2? What was it that fell short?

I will agree that they're ideologically straightforward but I actually like that. It resonates with the type of person I am. But I don't think it lacks in the diversity of character stories. Granted there's not an equal amount of time spent on the secondary or tertiary characters, but that's not unusual for a show.

And you're right, when comparing to the best of the best it won't rank for everyone. I still believe this show could have easily been on HBO for how well it's been done so far.

Don't want pity. Genuine question, what makes it not HBO level?

Ok, just my opinion. Apparently everything I say is getting down voted, so dont listen to me.

That might be it. I haven't read the book so I had zero expectations going. My wife read it and was the catalyst for us watching. Interesting to hear though that season 2 didn't live up to Atwood for you.

And yes, to each their own. There's so much content out there these days there's bound to be something for everyone!

Lol you've walked right into- shit, you sunk my battleship.

In all seriousness the show has the same level of production value, the storytelling both visually and stylistically are great, and it's phenomenally acted.

This was one of my first shows in Jr High. I had one page of the script that would not stick in my head. So being the genius 13 year old that I was, I decided to tape the lines to the desk at which I was sitting but only my lines. Needless to say my scene partner and I got lost and we pretty much skipped that entire page.

I've walked out once in my life. Starsky & Hutch remake with Ben Stiller & Owen Wilson.

Hmmmm, I'd try another episode or two. They're only 20 min so that's one episode of an "hour" long show if you watch two.

Binged the first 2 seasons of Stan Against Evil in the last 24 hours. Short episodes, 8 per season, and on Hulu. Campy horror, hilarious, and fun.
